Especially considering the Taliban are known to hide amoungst civilians and in Mosques. Its probably a good idea infact.
why? if it were a replica of a mosque, full building, to practice storming, so they knew the layout of a standard mosque, which i preusme their is, like with churches, that would be fine, but what does it matter if the piece of wood you are firng at has a dome on the top or not!

So you know which bits to avoid, or possible hiding places on the roof. I'm sure if we were at war in china they would make Pagoda shaped buildings, possibly with the odd giant red dragon, or spinny table.

did you click on the link? did you see what the 'mock-sques' (ooooh yeah) actually look like? no way you could practice for hiding places or knowing which bits to avoid, both of which would have been perfectly good excuses to have them, as i said. these are just squares of wood with a dome on top

I did click the link, and as you said they are just bits of wood knocked out ten to the dozen. If a target is likely to be hiding in a mosque then shouldn't the army know what one looks like. I really don't see it as that much of an issue and how it is supposed promote a negative image of islam bemuses me. Just isn't that big a deal, hence original flippant remark.

Why exactly do people think these look like mosques?

he's a taxi driver, 2 years driving ban kill his main source of income, frankly I think the sentence is pretty good considering driver get sentence for less than that when a cyclist got killed.

I know compared to many incidents it's a better sentence, but it still seems to fall way short of the mark I think.
Attempted murder surely?
Would the sentence have been harsher if the driver had mounted the pavement to drive at a pedestrian only for them to jump out of the way last minute? -

I used to regularly clear fishing lines from the cycle path I rode from home to college on a regular basis. The lit, tarmac'd and marked path followed a main road, and then took a cut through some woodland. I got taken off twice in the same spot by fishing line in the same place. I simply resorted to slowing right down through that section. It's annoying and dangerous.

Most drivers are sensible and would be concerned about crossing the line. They may be worried about breaking the law, even though they are allowed to cross it.
I'd love to be riding on roads with these drivers who acknowledge a cycle lane. The fact that it's wide enough to attract attention of drivers is a good thing.
