How could you possibly know what gear I'm running?
It's a 40-14 which is 77" the standard 48-18 is 72"
Also in Brighton the higher cadence makes it easier to climb the hills on my way to work.
It's not spinny at all and I wiped the floor with a group of riders on a track the other day. -

Beating 3 unfit smoking students is better than nothing....
However, the fact of the matter is that the gear works for me.

Ex-girlfriend's project. Except I bought it and haven't had to change anything, it's perfect. All chrome is perfect, the sturmey 3-speed works perfectly, the seatpost and stem even move! Apparently I'm the 3rd owner, and the first one was a lady who owned from new until last year - about 28 years?
Anyway, since the girlfriend is now an ex, I may be selling this on in the next week or two. For the paltry sum of £85 or thereabouts.

New Build (the eponymous BSA!):
(More info on picture notes...)
[[/URL]
Started out as a BSA 10-speed of unknown vintage. Currently running a 53x18 (~80in?). The gearing seems to be working in that I can see 25mph comfortably, 30 at a push, and can still slog at 15 into a headwind ;-)
I'd be the first to admit it's a bit rough and ready in places but I reckon my total outlay (inc initial bike purchase, excl 'consumables') has been about £160. Nuff said ;-)
Since I took these I've changed the handlebars for some trekking-type ones for more leverage and a forward position. It's also got covered in mud and filth. Jet-wash time I think...

very interested...I'll give you first shout then when I know. We're at the stage where I'm not sure whether to throw her stuff in the bin, or post it back to her in pieces.
I paid for the bloody bike anyway, so I don't think she'll be taking that.

just tell him since he's not good at building bicycle (if it that what you're saying), he'll end up spending a lots of money getting the bike shop to put it together for him.

tried that, i even worked it out for him!
think about it £165 frame + £70 wheels + £40 cranks + £35 for bar stem and post, £20 for brake callipers + £10 for levers + £25 for a pair of tyres + £20 chain and cog £10 for grips + £30 for assembly including bb facing, headset facing, Grease and cables = £425

It's a cheap locomotief road bike, always handy to have a road bike for long distance riding, even if it have simplex dérailleur, I didn't buy it to please you.
My new bike hasn't arrived yet.
