but surely, if they are developing it for there, it won't be long till similar things hit UK.

• #803
They're developing them too fast. I'm going to be upgrading every 6 months whether I break them or not :)

I just ordered a Desire from TMobile. They promised it will be with me Saturday.

I've just been told my work phone will be an iPhone whatever the best one is. Oh well.
Where's the freaking N1 Vodafone? Seriously, my new place is going to have iPhones, iPads and other such stuff and no N1's. I'm joining an Apple shop. I hope I'm going to be able to cope.

I just phoned Vodafone and the only (Android phone) confirmed release date is April 1st for the legend.....they had less idea than me. TMob we're helpful.

Did it arrive?
Everyone I looked at (except expansys) said it's not due for release until the 7th or 14th or something.Still no further news on the Nexus.
I did get £150 from my home insurance for the smashed Samsung which is nice. Not as nice as a working phone but better than a kick in the face. -

Cheeky one, but any of you lot got a half decent Android phone for sale?
Want to give it a go, before taking the plunge.
-
• #809
Sure.
Let's say... £250

So, I was in the T-Mobile shop today, and was stuck between choosing the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or the HTC Desire. The X10 was my desired choice, but a lack of accuracy in its screen QWERTY keyboard (from reviews) was a bit of a killer. The X10 also looked beautiful, and the Desire looked and felt hum-drum, but efficient. Peculiarly, I always keep my contract upgrades at 12 months, so the 18month and 2year options don't do it for me. So I was offered a surcharge of £10 for the Desire, or £90 for the X10.
I chose the Desire. Got it this afternoon. Not as pretty, but I can upgrade in a year to something more pant-wetting.

If you want pretty buy a pink iPhone and be done with it.
Can you buy them off-contract yet? I thought Apr 7th was release date. Still no word on the Nexus One which is pissing me off no end. Bastards.

I got mine this afternoon from the T-Mobile shop in Peckham. Weirdly, it seems that the only staff without tattoos were the females......
but honestly, I didn't do any extensive research. I do feel I got a spectacular phone (features wise), but the X10 had a lovely look and feel.X10 pluses: better camera, 3G all regions, bigger screen, looks better, feels heavier/sexier
X10 minuses: less available apps memory, older Android version, unimpressive virtual keyboard, less impressive screen resolutionDesire pluses: more apps memory, better screen resolution,
Desire minuses: a bit plain-Jane, smaller screen, 3G only in Europe/Asia, -

Anyone know if either of these two are any good as a 'phone' though.... I'm a bit old fashioned like that.. GA2G - your observations much appreciated on the Desire!

How do you buy stuff ex-VAT? Can I do this?
£335.99 ex VAT
£394.79 inc.http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=HTCDESIRE

You pay the VAT, but claim it back if you own a company, or buy it for company use -
you must be at least a director, or better yet, a moderator. -
• #824
I'm director of a limited company. Would prefer to just pay the cheaper price :)
