Boo!
Rubbish result, and sadly Alonso's car looks fast.

.....I think Alonso will manhandle Massa. The one thing in Massa's favour, is that he understand the Ferrari cars better than other driver, save for Kimi. Alonso will have a steeeeeep learning curve. But once mastered, he'll dominate Massa. That's my prediction.
That's what everyone thought when Kimi arrived too. Massa is still massively underrated imo, he consistently outperformed Kimi in the past two seasons and took a few wins of Schumacher too. There haven't been many who have beaten Schumacher while in the same car.
^i agree with this.
Lewis Hamilton 'won't blow away Jenson Button'
Yeah........right.
The world hates smart-arses. And I don't mind being hated at all.
Alonso will have Massa in his pocket all season, and Button will never match Lewis for speed.
I only hope I'm wrong, or the races will get boring. Red Bull look a good bet if they improve reliability. In fact, for performances, Red Bull and Ferrari are quite a bit ahead of the other teams.
Oh, and the 3rd generation Grenadian (Hamilton, if you didn't know) did well.

Whichever team employ Adrian Newey will, eventually, win.
Worked for Williams, then McLaren, once they can get the car to finish the race in one bit then it will work for Redbull.
Until then it looks like Alonso will do well, sadly.

Bastard internet! I typed out a whole spiel here, and then my laptop dropped my connection mid-post.
The gist was..Poor old Vettel, I'd love to see him win it this year. He seems like a nice kid, and he's a good driver.
Schumi - why has he come back? He isn't going to win, why sully his good race/win ratio? I grew up with him dominating the track, his return to F1 is going to do nothing but tarnish his winning streak.
I'm glad the season has started up again though, makes my sundays bearable.

Do you really think he cares about that though? To me, there's only one reason he came back, he misses the competition, sure doing media stunts is fun and pays well, but he's a racing driver, you'll never get the same thrill off track.
I don't think i'll be following F1 much this season, a combination of working weekends and F1's rather boring "racing", though i'll still be as interested as ever in the technical side of things. Also i'm hoping that Sutil can keep up his record of dragging that FI up to the business end of the grid.

I second this.

if you watch the interview after the race, watch massa's left eye, its still quite lazy so he's not completely fixed but it was an absolutely amazing return for him,

Yeah, it's all about NASCAR these days.

If F1 was limited to one lap, it would be a lot more exciting.

F1 Speedway FTW! :)

i actually watched a bit of this. a hang over that threatened to end my life made me sit still long enough to watch the qualifiers.
fucking hell, there were several times where i wish i had finished the night on window cleaner and anti freeze..how utterly fucking boring are the people, sport and everything associated with it.
If that lanky toss pot had to tell me how this was going to be the most exciting, bestest, on the edge of my seat season ever. then went on to bring a whole host of tools to say the same thing for 3 FKNG HOURS!Christ!

Well todays Australian GP was great IMO. Trying to not spoil the results in case anyone hasnt seen it yet.
Button took the risk and it paid off I'm so glad that Massa stayed ahead of the alonso.

Damn right, caught it on iplayer and it was a great race!

Shame about Hamilton, he had an absolute blinder.

Not in Australia.

Well the bitching on the radio about the tyre change is really unprofessional.

^ ahem... button... how can this car be so bad at the moment... ahem.

I guess it's just an English thing eh? ;)

Predictions for this weekend?
I'm going Hamilton in the wet :)
-
• #1674
Vettel should walk it, especially if it's wet. However a little part of me is hoping it's a complete monsoon and Schumacher completely obliterates the field a la Barcelona '96
Also, F1 related:

stranger things have happened...
how many podiums do you think schuey will make before the end of the season?
Well that was a bit of a precession wasn't it. Now that there is no refuelling the teams only stop the minimum needed to change tyres (once) so it all turns into a bit of a train. It's interesting at the start as always, and gets a bit more interesting at the end as the cars get lighter and things get hotter, but that still leaves a fat chunk of middle that is basically bloody boring. MOC and I didn't require a 'safety car nap' we just fell asleep anyway, even the commentators were talking more tripe than normal.
Felt sorry for Vettel though, the Ferrari's are looking hot sofar - even though I can't stand him I think Alonso has a very good chance this year. I think it will be between him, Lewis and Vettel. Time will tell as this is a new circuit - I'm hoping Australia will be a lot more interesting.
