  • Ed, if your arse is that wide you may only find comfort when you turn to the hammock seat thing that a recumbent provides. Unless you could fit some sort of hammock to your bike :-)

  • Htfu

That took way too long. This forum.. dtm.

  • I'm bringing my old red Flite Gel back. It'll be for sale soon. This but more used.

  • Been using the charge bucket for a few months now, quite comfortable and a steal at the price.

  • Looks cool as fuck. I love the name.

  • Ed, we've had a plain black rido in the shop for a while, if you fancy one cheap let me know

  • Ok an actual question, turbo or concor?

  • Depends which one you prefer.

Concors are slightly narrower IIRC. I prefer Concors but only the suede ones coz they are grippy.

someone is sending one to me already, but thank all the same.

Max is right, you just need to test out the Rolls, Turbo and Concor, no use asking our help in recommending a saddle since what's comfortable for them may not be comfortable for you.

  • Well unfortunatly no shops around me stock either so I can't test either one, I would have to order in, I usually ride a specialized toupe, with Lycra, on my race bike and xc bike in 143mm width which is very comfy

  • Just gone back to my Rolls and forgot how comfortable it was. I think I was making myself believe that other saddles were comfortable because of their lower weight and style which matched modern bikes.

Now I am riding a bike where the Rolls size/shape suits it I put it back on. The thing I don't like about the Rolls is the gold (although could spend a lot more and get a Ti version I suppose)
The Rolls is pretty knackered anyway so I may try a Turbo re-issue and hope I get on as well with that.

I know, looks don't matter to most when it comes to a saddle but it does to me and no good pretending it doesn't. Shallowness self aware here !

i agree :) I've ben using the Bucket for nearly a month, and would recommend it to anyone on a low budget looking for a goodlooking comfy saddle!

just be glad you're not me when none of the saddle is comfortable for me, the option is rather limited!

  • Moulton saddle fun.
Fizik Aliante - really tried, 500+ miles, doesn't work in 'road position'. agony after 2 hours. moved to Brompton - upright suits it/me.
Brooks Swift - > 100 miles, many adjustments, main issue is 1 part of it works, move further forward and it doesn't. agony after 3 hrs.
Specialized Toupe Ti-143 - 2 rides, 4+ hours now on it. Utter bliss in comparison to the previous 2. Only choice now is 'gel' or not. we'll see :)

I do appear to need a 'flat' saddle with a varity of positions available. Moving forward on the Toupe is great, support just in the right places.

Thanks++++ for the loan Dancing James :)

  • Really wanted to take my arione out today for a longer ride but have spent the whole daysorting out a broken window in my car. Fucking stupid little cunts.

  • I love my kashimax aero

  • I'm rocking a fizik aliante. Had it for 3 years, use it everyday and is now on it last legs. comfortable too. i want another... anyone?

  • Brooks B17 is the most comfortable saddle I've used, but I keep sliding forward and hit the "hard" spot on the nose. And then it's not so comfy...

I notice the same, sometime it usually take a quick change in stem length and/or height to sort that out.

If you find you need the saddle nose sloped download a bit in order to be reassuringly comfortable, just increase the height of your stem, and put the saddle back into it's horizontal position.

  • Perhaps I aslo have to tighten the adjustment bolt a little, although it doesn't look like it's sagging too much (but it was used previously, so it's broken into and not stiff anymore).

  • Currently using a Selle Italia Flite but considering a change - gets a bit uncomfortable after 3 hour plus rides, also I'd like to get another cm or so saddle height (my seatpost is at maximum extension) so I guess something like a Turbo, Rolls, Concor or Kashimax is the way forward - anything else with a high rails to seat distance that comes recommended?

  • Hi Guys

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a saddle for doing long road races, i'll be in the saddle for 7 or more hours. I was thinking of buying the Charge Knife saddle as i love the spoon and the knife is lighter and more race bred. I imagine there are many options, weight is less important as comfort but i wouldn't go for a 500g Brooks. Any thoughts

    Cheers,
    Jono

Try as many as possible, find one you like.

  • Quite a few people (including me) would recommend the Fizik Arione. Comes in a variety of lightnessness as well.
