nah, not if you have a brake... not ideal but not disasterous unless you're running a spinny gear, i regularly nip out for a spin with my spd shoes on and can still skid stop (i run a brake too though)

@ Jambon: The rims are some cheepies off ebay over here in Oz . . brand is "Stars Circle" and they cost around AU$80 for the set. See ebay item # 400105759682. They come in anodized blue and white too. You just have to peel off the silly stickers.
@ Re-Cycled: Yes, absolutely agree. I've got the hub on freewheel for now untill me and the dog get better acquanted with the setup and then I'll flip it to fixed down the track.

Ye i probably exagerated saying it was "dangerous", but its certainly not advisable :)

I'd say it is dangerous. You need two brakes; one front brake works, and your feet on a fixed wheel does too, but I think you need to be attached to the pedals.
