I am doing sprint intervals up and down the Archway Road at 9 in the morning. Cant wait

Archway Road is a long drag. Not very steep, maybe only 5-6%. But it has a Bus Lane all the way up it which will be completely clear at that time. Can do bottom to the top of the first bit in under a minute. Roll back down and repeat until I am totaly fu**ed and my cadance has dropped right down

Meet you at the south east corner of the park (the bit where we stopped every time to look at your computer before) at 11? I need a lie in...

I see. Hill repeats. How much rest do you have between efforts?
-
• #1059
About as long as it takes to roll down the hill.
My aim is to get up the hill at about 100 rpm which will be a steady 18mph and roll back down at the same pace, recovering and then hit it again. Will probably take about 50 seconds to get up it and the same back down. Hope to be able to do at least 5 first off before I really flag. If I do flag too much then I may reduce the gearing a little -

Well that was fun. I managed six repeats before I threw up a bit in my mouth and almost passed out. The great thing about intervals is that I was out the house for just over half an hour and am way more shattered than I was after my hilly hour and a half ride yesterday. And I am warm :)

Thunder till you chunder - that's the way to do it. Where did you turn round at the top, just past the bus stop on the flat bit or before the bus lane filters off? I had to go up here a fair few times last weekend on the way to Friern Barnet. Don't think I broke 16mph though...
-
• #1062
I turned round just before the bridge and rolled back down the bus lane on the wrong side of the road - Pretty dangerous, but what the hell. I didnt want to have more than 40 seconds rolling rest between each effort. If I had got to the top, it would have taken too long to get back to the bottom and kind of defeated the purpose

what gearing did you use for your hill sprints, Mike?

what gearing did you use for your hill sprints, Mike?
Just saw this. 66, which I think may be a little high. I will try again next week and if I cannot do 7 then may reduce a little

Think its about time I spent some time with the wife and child rather than disappearing at ungodly hours with men in lycra (or skinny jeans). For that reason I'm out.
