Scared the shite out of me just watching it

  • Hello.

Some of you have mentioned that you used to be into BMX. Cool me too.

I still quite like BMX but my back isn't up to riding a BMX for more than a few minutes. Anyway I thought I'd make a thread to post all BMX related stuff in.

Let's start with this nice video section:
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VJBPlwrmTEQ Empirebmx presents: Chill Bro.

Aaron Ross's Chill Bro video part.

I quit BMX for 3 years due to excruciating lower back pain. I was often unable to ride for more than 30 minutes and then afterwards I couldn't even stand up, I'd be lying on my back on a hard floor almost crying. If i'd known that yoga would have all but cured it, I might not have left it so long...

Some people can't be relieved of their back pain but for the sake of some relaxing, gentle stretching it's worth a try.

Cheers. I've been told I should try some Yoga. Need to give it a go.

  • yeah dude, i hot yoga on regular basis and t 35 can still fly through the trails and take decent hit, bail and be ok next day instead of being out of action for a week, can not recommend it enough

  • No personal yogo experience but my Dad is in his mid sixtes has two slipped disks and general wear and tear from a back from a life time of hard manual labor.

After going to chiropractors for decades, several times a year he had one teach him some basic exercises which look yogaish to me. He now does the moves ever morning. His back goes out a lot less often than it used to. Plus now 90% of the time when he dose pull a muscle in his back instead of being crippled and paying someone to pull him about he does the exercises and it sorts it out. It's all to do with strengthening underused muscles and evening out muscle strength apparently.

  • now if only i could actually be bothered to do the yoga moves every day instead of using it as an occasional quick pre-fix

  • Isn't this where I make some comment about doing tricks on a fixed?

Wallrides are wicked. This is just brilliant.

and then i would agree, right? is this that place?

  • George French is one of my heroes. It's not even a joke, he is genuinely one of my heroes. He took his degree, knowledge, and experience and applied it to something he loved. He designed and produced some amazing parts in Sheffield himself and over time his parts proved to be exactly what he intended and thus his business grew to the point GSPOrT parts are not only popular in the UK but partially thanks to Odyssey, BMXers all around the world swear by his parts. He is such an intelligent guy and if I could make an impact on someone in BMX like he made an impact on me I'd be so proud of myself.

  • George's articles are usually pretty awesome. He's like the Sheldon of BMX. Big burly rider too.

Thanks for posting it. Very relevant to my lame unstretched body. Cheers.

  • I wrote to him once asking for stickers and he sent me a lovely handwritten letter telling me about his company. Proper nice bloke.

  • YouTube - Colt Fake

Colt Fake is insane. Not smooth but big and crazy riding.

  • Anyone on here still ride/own a BMX?

  • Yes but riding now involved big fear and shit rust skills. Still go out every once in a while.

  • ^6^ that due is mental.

  • Anyone on here still ride/own a BMX?

I did start riding again for about 6 months, but my back is fucked again :-@

I am genuinely afraid that my bmx life is over

  • I ride a 24" S&M now. My mates call it a safety cycle. :(

  • I've got a 2008 Redline 24" cruiser, still ride it when I can, wouldn't mind taking it to a track someday...
