• 350 euro?? fucking hell!

    althought I do like this metro beside the price tag;

  • these guys are taking the piss right?

  • Turning the stream of commerce to piss.

"Great value for the starting Trackbike rider."

I think im going to compete on one... and video it. if it makes its way through one lap of preston park my surprise will be infinite... seriously how many people are going to be waterboarding themselves with tears when they realise how ripped off theve been?

  • surely this didnt require its own thread could it not have been added to one of the existing unipa.. threads?

    http://www.londonfgss.com/search.php?searchid=3587806

    sorry if i missed something.

  • this is also the same site that the amsterdam fixed gear site runs out of.....

Then they should know better than to sell that dangerous crap.

    Godverdomme!

  • 350 euros for a £150 piece of crap ? jeeez.

  • blitz the internetz with bad comments about the bike
at least we can try and help those who do a bit of research before buying a bike

  • Why?! There's no way they can break into a market whereby you can pick up bikes from the local junkies for €10 a pop. These very same bikes can be taken back to the UK and sold for a couple of hundred quid to discerning riders of quality antique bikes. Funny they should attempt it the other way around - take poorly made shit heaps, ramp the price and try a sell snow to Eskimos.

  • 350 euros for a £100 piece of crap ? jeeez.

    actual value, fixed.

(they cost £100 each for reseller allowing them to put another £100 to gain profit, fairly normal and perfectly fine expect it's a rubbish bicycle).

  • I spotted a bright pink Create yesterday, rebranded by the clothing company Nikita - 'For Girls Who Ride' emblazoned across the top tube. They seem to be pretty aggressive in the old marketing department.

  • Saw one up here in Leeds the other day, dude was riding it wearin flip-flops!!!

  • Turning the stream of commerce to piss.

    Yeh right

    What they really mean is:

"Great value for the starting Hipster."

  • I remember when they first came out, saw some dude in a suit riding down Hackney Road, using his feet to stop.

  • Does anyone want to email them and tell them not to bother?

  • I could sell them mine... but i actually couldnt do that to the person...

Though i have had the BB replaced.... And chain... And cog-thingy... And the arms...

    Next the brakes and wheels!

  • objects of desire

    I could sell them mine...

    They want one for £1?

  • Score!!!

But really, do i want that on my head???

  • ahahaa well spoken. i always ride wit my snake helmet ;)

    does it look like this?

  • I'm both happy and sad for him. Happy because, obviously, he's gonna be riding fixed. Sad because he didn't build his first fixie himself. Though, at least he's passed the "don't spend a fortune on your first fixie" test.

So, what's gonna break first? Anything? I've hear endless stories about other pre-built fixies (Update: unipack = create!?).

(Also, sorry if this is a huge repost, I am UTFSing right now)

  • The post title sounds like the start of a joke!

Anyway, I think its just down the luck really some people have had no problems with them others have had them screw up real quick.

What's wrong with spending loads of money on the first fixed gear either? I've spent a fair bit on mine to get it just how I want it!

  • Nothing IMO. I think it was just a sort of a "don't buy a bianchi pista concept as your first fixie you rich prick" thing.
Guess we'll just have to see. I was just thinking if anybody knew something likely to break I'd give him a heads up.

Anyway, looks like the total fixed gear riders in falmouth has now gone up to about 7.

  • You havent used the search function on this much... Tut tut...

I am not a very big fan of the UniCrap/ Create-A-Headache bikes. Mostly because i own one. I was actually on this forum BEFORE i bought the damn thing, but that was because it was rebranded the Create.

The long story short, is that IF he ever buys a new bike, he will LOVE that new bike. It will be the most amazing change in the world! I have upgraded to a OTP basic bike and it is like floating on air in comparison.

Where to start... My first advice, as he is your friend and new to this, please do me one BIG favour. Go over EVERY nut and bolt and tighten them. Seriously, EVERY single one. Including the bolt that holds the pedals!
That was the first thing to go on mine. It stripped so badly that i had to replace the whole bottom bracket/pedals/chain ring. It also aggravated an injury i got because the bike is as stable as a very-non-stable-thing.

The bike will sound like a tractor as well until all the moving parts are replaced.

Also, the bolt that holds the uprights to the stem REALLY needs tightening. I missed that one. While i was going round a corner, the handlebars came loose and flipped. Try braking when your brakes are over your wrists. I unceremoniously came off and into an old lady who picked me up and dusted me off and told me it would be OK. I was seriously shaken by that experience.

Apparently, even the wheels sometimes come out skew or the spokes snap. The chain is a particular pain i understand. When my BB was destroyed, i replaced the chain as well just in case.

The other thing to be concerned about are the brakes. They have the grip of a 5 yr old baby girl. And in the wet = Slippery as fuck. Which IMP is even worse than being a fixie skidder without brakes because youre not lulled into a false sense of security.

I KNOW that this is his first bike. Nothing wrong with that. I would encourage him to enjoy it. Though it may be an uphill battle with it. My suggestion is to replace parts before they go wrong because on the UniCrap, they do so in such a spectacular manner in the most inappropriate places.

This should be more of a warning to those that havent bought one who may.

So for your friend - (in order of cost)
1.tighten all the bolts and nuts first. (free if you got the tools)
2.Replace the chain as its cheap as chips.
3.The tires would need to be changed and if you would like to prevent unnecessary punctures, you need to get proper rim tape! They use some sort of rubber that is rubbish.

    1. I would recommend replacing the BB/pedals/chainring but thats because of my personal experience. This would also make the ride A LOT smoother. It will also stop it from waking the neighbours when he rides passed.

    I hope this helps!

  • everybody's got to start somewhere - i hope he rides the legs off your stuck up arse on his crap bike
(in a nice way of course)

  • ^Those first three points are great. However I would strongly suggest taking all the bits off and greasing them (note I don't say re-grease) and tightening them up. The main one on this is the cog and lockring. They are on dangerously loose normally.

New tyres and chain are also very well worth buying pronto. But then its probably better to sell it and buy a new bike before you ride it so it doesn't loose its re-sale value so much :). Get anything It will be better. Ever since I saw a guy bring one in the shop where the rear hub just fell apart and all the bearings fell out I'm totaly 100% convinced no one should ever have to own or ride one. Ever. Fuck the 7/10 total cycling gave it. Totaly don't know about cycling clearly.
