Fuck the 7/10 total cycling gave it. Totaly don't know about cycling clearly.
I read that (bought the mag because of the free buff thing which I appreciate in minus temps!)
The article read like the bike was useless and then they rate it a 7?They seem to have a hard time actually giving low scores in that mag, and can hardly be because of advertising revenue where Create are involved...

I was going to waste money on one till I researched.
They dont get a good name. But as said theres been some useful advice given so far. -

speak to Reeen, he's got one - admittedly I think the frame is the original thing left.
-
• #1080
Reen is not the only one to ride one of these frames, no?
It seems like the frame is just about the only OK thing on these things.
There is nothing wrong with not building "your first fixie". most people don't....

dont the Creates have sealed hubs and BB's as opposed to the loose ball bearing hubs and BB's on unipacks?
-
• #1082
You havent used the search function on this much... Tut tut...
Yeah, I found little on Creates and only just realised I probably should have had a search for "Unipack" is ashamed
Also, THANKYOU for that very thorough reply. I was thinking, cog and lockring should be the first to get a look over. I wont be able to sort him out until january though, he's also got none of the appropriate tools (AFAIK).
What I don't get is.. Sugino cranks.

There were a pretty good discussion on the Unipack/Create bicycle in the Cycling Plus topic, the common notion is that the bike is fine when they're put together properly, wheel trued, decent headset, BB and that it;
Every problematic unipac/create i have seen has been as a result of being poorly put together.
Mend a Bike in Fulham were selling them, and i had a right go at them, but then the mechanic said hang on, if its put together with some care, the wheels trued, and a decent bb and headset installed, then for your average joe it was a way better option at 200 quid than what you wold get from Halfords. Also i think the Creates are a (small) step up in quality from the original unipack
He had a point.
Having seen the state stock fuji tracks arrive in out the box, I'd say all OTP bikes should be assembled and checked by a decent mechanic.
Particularly de-stressing and truing wheels

I rode mine in this year's Tour de France. I won even though the saddle was a bit too high. YMMV.

I rode mine in this year's Tour de Trance. I won even though the saddle was a bit too high. YMMV.
Fixed.

Maybe but the BB at least is still crap. I'd second replacing chain/BB/tyres as priority swaps.

Get anything It will be better. Ever since I saw a guy bring one in the shop where the rear hub just fell apart and all the bearings fell out I'm totaly 100% convinced no one should ever have to own or ride one. Ever.
This happened to me what shop do you work in?

BB and headset are very cheap to replace too, a small investment to prolonged the lifespan (or lack thereof) of the Create/Unipack bicycle.
that is unless the headset/BB on the newer Create bike is better,

• #1095
At least the Create has a decent name, unlike CRIPSIN - anagram PRICS IN!
-
• #1096
Oh noes he brought out the anagrams, when will the madness end? Someone save us!

Yeah i made the mistake of buying one of these. Should have stuck to the old adage of "If it seems to good to be true.." On the 3rd day I decided to kick down and push it a bit. I remember I was cycling through bloomsbury past a group of students and chain came off with a loud bang - completely spooked them! Only thing the bike was good for.
Thems fancy talk Harry!!!
