A couple of things
Paul asked for this to be a hidden thread for those who know him to start with. If you can think of anyone who needs to know please cut and paste it in a PM but explain for now it is not to go out wider than that.
This thread has now been made more public.
Those are just joining the thread should read the first post.

Old man is sounding stronger by the day.
A sure sign of recovery is that he has even shown slight signs of being argumentative over the past couple of days, though that may just be a result of spending too much time with me.
It still stands that if you wish to visit please PM object or pigfarmer.

this is really terrible news. we've been kept updated by em, and managed to get down to see paul last week. (took him some terrible porn to keep his pecker up...hah!) he seemed in good spirits, and gave us a run down of all the merits of each of the nurses!
in regards to visit organising, i presume that it's busier in the evenings when people are finishing work, but i'm free all day, if paul has a (unlikely) lack of visitors in the afternoon?
mr. fiddy, sir, you were one of the first forumengers to take me under your wing, and i'll always remember dancing in the redchurch until the small hours, and then realising as we left you had left your bike unlocked the entire time...opposite brick lane...and it was still there! stay strong and heal the fuck up paul!

Paul, I can't picture you without a grin on your face. I'm always amazed by your resilience and whenever I see you you've always just arrived from some ridiculous epic ride of however many miles - and you're in the pub with that wolfish grin and a pint in hand.
You seem to be the one person who can unite this bloody forum, and that's no mean feat. Take it easy, & sending you love and wishes.

I only met you once very briefly at Norths so I don't imagine you will remember me but I would still like to add my voice to the messages of support.
This is an incredible forum and I know from my reading that you are an important part of making this place what it is.
Wishing you all the best, stay strong.

Only just saw this. Very sorry to hear you're unwell Paul.
Only met the man a handful of times but he made me laugh every time I did. Last time at Bright Times 4 he was obvioulsy bored by a conversation I was having with Pajamas and butted in: "Anyway, enough of that, I want to talk about meeeee!"
Haha! Best wishes fella.

I went to visit Paul y'day evening, and considering what he's been through over the past few days, both psychically and mentally, he seemed suprisingly like the chap we all know and love.
We shared some laughs, I showed him some footage of a recent trip to NY, which had caught Kattt on film, his eyes lighting up, and generally he was remarkably attentive and high-spirited.As James mentioned, his stubborness was there to see, which can only be a good thing. When the nurse asked if she could put the table across his bed so that he could eat - Eat? Paul? - It was met with a firm "no", and you could see she wasn't going to be asking twice.
Then there was a bloke in the bed opposite him who was clearly in a lot of discomfort, was crying and begging for the nurse to give him something to ease it. Paul told me that he'd just come in that day, and "was a prick". I couldn't help but chuckle. He's such a pragmatic trooper it's ridiculous.
Anyway, it was great to see him, and I know any visit by friends is a welcome break from his time on the ward.
He was of course particularly keen to see females.
Rest up fiddy...
See ya soon.

Thus far he has a near complete collection of Rouleur magazines, huge thanks to the staff at Rapha/Rouleur for sorting that out.
Hillbilly has also added real porn to the library of bike porn.
Goodwill parcels have started arriving at my office - thank you Platini.
I gather the septics have misunderstood things and as he was a war baby are sending over a parcel of nylons, condoms and chocolate - Katt you are a legend but the war ended years ago!
