Pity really considering that paint looks so awesome. Its like chrome gone a bit dull. Think i´m gona build it up tomorrow. Decals a postponed till the powder man had his second try. -

Does that even matter, considering it won't be by the time you have had the tubes replaced?
Seriously, why?* For the cost, plus fixing, plus respray, you could have a full custom frame. With no dodgy history, repairs or other possible un seen problems.*Maybe because it was worth it?... for me, not for you, because it is my bike, not yours.
Just because you've asked nicely:
1 - It was really cheap (well customs ruined that a bit)
2 - Needs fixing and I'm cool with that
3 - Needs respray, and even tho i love this PJ, I'm really cool with that
4 - Even after repair it will keep the chrome where I want it ; )
5 - It's my perfect size, never before had a frame that would fit me so well
6 - A custom Panasonic delivered to the UK is around £850/900...
7 - since when it is wrong to restore/recover nice frames??!!
8 - Even if you had a point about cost, fixing, res....blah, blah, blah... has it ever occurred to you that I might prefer to do this, than having a custom build?
9 - You forgot - IMO. ^^^Cheers

No Opinion, just a question and some facts.
£185 for the frame
£75 for shipping
£60 for customs
£125 new top tube and down tube
£120 re spray single colour (plus masking the chrome, extra colours and decals)£565 for a damage repair frame, or £400-£500 for a custom built, made to measure.
If that's your thing, go for it, simply a questions.

The bold figure is where you have gone wrong as it should read £850-£900 as it is a Panasonic isn't it?

If you've got the money spend it how you like... I like the idea of giving old bikes a new lease of life.
In for a penny and all that

*£565 for a damage repair frame**, or £400-£500 for a custom built, made to measure.
^^I'm doing that one, no doubt : ) Nice maths, If the P stays around that sort of price, I'm happy.
And again, to be accurate:
£170 for the frame (inc. HATTA BB/HS mint condition)
£70 for shipping
£60 for customs (fuckers!)
Total = ±£300 (if i decide to sell bb/hs will be under £200)No Opinion, just a question and some facts
I still see that as your opinion buddy... I would always prefer to restore a bike than having one built for me, so my money (IMO) is being well spent.
Not difficult to understand ; ) -

Where did you get this powdercoated? What colours etc? Looks nice.
The Fork has original Cannondale Paint, they call it Blazer Blue, should be something close to RAL5015, its metallic paint though. The Frame was powdercoated by some dude here in Germany in a color he calls Chromat. It´s a chrome effect paint and looks like old chrome gone a bit dull. Still awesome considering its paint.

His point is more directed toward a Mercian for instance (Dave Yates, Villier, etc.) I think.
I can see his reason, however it is your bike nuknow, ride it and enjoy it regardless of how much you spend on it.

Nuknows Panasonic is well worth restoring.I'd do exactly the same thing given the choice. The dropouts on the P look the same as Nagasawa uses?,and what a beautiful seatstay bolt clamp.Just look at the build quality.

• #19423
that panasonic is dented! i can understand someone restoring a frame that you can buy for twenny quid or something, but that much! it's not even nice or rare! disgusting!
-
• #19424
to each his own... ^^like you and your matching aerospikes^^... ain't that nice.
-
• #19425
You sir are an ignorant buffoon.
Not nice? The owner says it fits perfectly, I'd say thats pretty nice!
Rarity? Who cares? After demanding a cheap source of arrospok(still only fiddy dorrah at asm's lockup) you have so say in matters of taste
Why? Henry... Why?
