    I'm Belgian. And it's on a Specialized.

  • Nelson is complete, very happy with it and it is a really decent frame for the money! My first new frame so very chuffed

  • I love it... and so does that energy creature outside your window.

  • The Flite looks too far back (IMO).

  • have not had a chance to adjust the position properly hence all the spacers, but it looks that way to me so im sure it will be dialed in on the next dry day

  • s.walrus
really impressed with your first build, how many hours for the frame construction ?
    ride till you die !

Bikecad of my current project. Still a month away.

  • I found an old peugeot esprit in my friends shed so decided to convert.

    It started off like this:

There was a bit of surface rust, no issue, but the stem and bottom bracket were well and truly siezed. The stem needed a week's worth of caustic soda treatment whereas the bottom bracket had to be removed using brute force and the trusty blow torch. After nitromors and a lot of sanding it ended up looking like this:

I was tempted to leave it raw but decided to prime it, paint and clearcoat it. I used montana 94 in cosmos violet which is really low pressure and gives a nice opaque colour and then sprayed on some metallic flakes before clearcoating it with montana hardcore.

The photos are exceptionally rubbish, i'll try and get some decent ones sometime.

    what size is the frame?

  • The seat tube's 62cm ctc, but it would be approximately 67cm ctc without an extended headtube and with a horizontal toptube

@robadob, great work on that conversion - well worth the effort.

I saw a Nelson parked outside Hobgoblin near goldsmiths today. Not sure if it was yours as i cycled pasted

no was not mine im up north living in york at the moment

or the fact that because it's a track frame, the seat tube are usually slighty steeper (as well as the headtube), the saddle being too far back may be pretty comfortable for him.

Exactly. I have my seat back as far as it goes on my Nelson. The seat tube is very steep which gives the relatively short top tubes. Good for the track and getting in a good position but not so good on the road (too much weight on hands), hence needing the seat way back. It works though as it is the same as having a couple of degrees of slack.

it is quite steep and the current setup is just from the initial ride, i alway tweak stuff once its been "lived with" for a while. I tend to be fairly heavy on my hands for day to day riding, but thats just preferance

  • walrus, that is brilliant. seriously good effort, well done.

    how shocking!

  • Built for the fucking Green Giant?

    That head tube is massive.

Braker, I never met you dude but I know you're a tall, summat like 7 foot. Is this a custom jobbie?
