  • couple of things changed on my lo pro and built up a volume cutter (Crazy james' ex love interest) for messing around and tricks.

look at all that letraset! that must've cost a bomb.

  • crapberry pic, project nelson is underway....

and she sets sail as soon as i hear from cyclebasket who forgot to include half of the "included" headset, yet to hear back from them. cant wait to get her out, the welds look very tidy as well.

Mine also, the headset box was sealed so probably a genuine mistake by the manufacturer.

  • it comes as frame and forks, so the headset can be fitted at steerer cut, the rest of it should be included in the box, but i think it must have been misplaced by cyclebasket thats all

  • i am working on this bike and found the fork at a bike thrift store...the guy was high and couldnt remember the brand and only asked 10 euros for it so i got it...it seems italian but what is it? does anyone know? am i stupid to ask this?

colnago uses clovers all over the place, but usually it's more of a sylized clover.

    masi has them sometimes too.

    really i dunno.

  • Well done, hope you´ll get it. looks simple but pornalicious!

    Damned,
The guy contacted me today and the bike is now sold.
I wonder if someone here got it!

  • Some nice things over the last week, Gizmond (phewee), that red one soon after I can't remember the name, Balki, tilover & Dylan going naked. Some other nice things too.

TBTRN was about to get props from me for the Letraset (as well as the nice tough-looking bikes), then this:

What about the little cabinet for it all to live in!? Bonkers.

Can't believe letraset is hard to get now, I used to handle loads of it at London Graphics when I was straight out of school, we used to have to climb this ladder to get it out of the little boxes high up in the shop. Should've nicked loads. [/random reminiscing]

  • The Volume is nice ;)

Tempted to build another trick bike, probably gonna just get an mtb or something this time though.

  • James, what bike are riding at the moment with your lycra and Times? Isn't it a Roadrat? Have ya got a picture?

  • Yeah its MikeC's old one, hasn't changed much, will put a pic up when I get a sec, really loving it though, nice flickable bike around town :), much quicker to get around on than my trick bike, probably due to it weighing half what that tank did!...and being on skinnier tyres.

  • My first build! Homemade Columbus Spirit frame with Newvex lugs, VO rims on Miche hubs, Nitto bars + stem, VO sadle+seatpost, Old Sugino Super Mighty Cranks.

    Wow !
That is amazing.... Is this the first frame you've built? Where/how did you learn?

    Wow. Very noice.

  • beautiful walrus

  • WOW... Speechless Walrus.

  • loverly job
and you built it on the kitchen table? fair play

  • nice work man!
is buying tubes and lugs etc. a lot cheaper than buying a readymade frame?
(my friend said he calculated tubes and everything, it would still cost about 300,-)

  • Maybe for ordinairy people.
I reckon for a manufacturer / regular client / OEM it's more like 50.- (material only, not the hours).

  • Great job! How does it ride? Are you happy with your handiwork?

ceeway do a kit with everything for around £120 - basic tubing and lugs tho

That means that they still have enough profit/margin

  • Braker: I spent about 2 months reading everything I could about frame building and brazing on the internet. I bought some practice lugs and tubing from Ceeway (50p per lug and about £3 for 60cm of tube). It didn't prepare me for the fancy lugs much, but I learnt a bit about temperature and how the silver behaved. I over did it with the silver, for fear of under doing it, and had to spend some time with a mini-drill and a baby grinding wheel to get the lug lines nice again in some places. I did all the brazing with just propane using a Bullfinch Autobraze torch because I didn't want a big oxy-acetylene set up in the house and the hassle of renting gas etc.

Fruit: Frameset was about £120 for Columbus Spirit (no forks) about £45 for the lugs and £25 for bb shell, £10 for trackends and £6 fro the top-eyes. Silver brazing rods and flux anoth £50ish - add a couple hacksaw blades and a fresh half round file so about £275 which is pretty good for a custom frame from good quality frameset. I cheated and bought some £50 CrMo forks from SJS, took of the mud-guard eyes and filled the rack fitting holes.

Andy: I'm pretty happy with the build, the seat stays are slightly off where they meet the seat tube due to a slightly out of line trackend - but it still holds the back wheel dead straight and you can only see it if you are looking for it. The paint job is just from a rattle-can, so I might treat myself to a professional job at some point. Only had a chance of a very short ride, it was great.

    Thanks for all the comments,
    Ian.
