  • Yep will email you one in just a sec.
The more info we can get on there(providing it is easy for the person to note down) the better.
I would really like a designer to take a look, I just put that together in Excel.

This is what I think should be incorporated into a match report:
    -Teams
    -Players
    -Goals/Goal times/Who scored
    -Shots on goal
    -Blocks
    -Interceptions
    -foot-downs/tap-outs
    -collisions

  • i think it's a great idea, one step slocer to fantasy polo league!!!!

but it would be hard for a ref to record all that info and watch the game at the same time.

i'm sure some matches will be played without enough spectators to record the info, then that teams stats would not be accurate rendering the whole thing a bit pointless. but we should definitely do it/try it out.

    nice one mack!

  • also shots on goal should be recorded alongside shots to get accuracy percentage, would make for some great stats and would sort out who's who.

  • Posession % if we're getting really geeky about it.

  • You can't expect the ref to do all this AND make the right call all the time...

We need a full time stats geek.

  • Hey nick-nack so your convinced louis is a copper too then? ;)

  • Fantasy Polo League!

    Assists should also be counted.

  • Line refs should be get a lot of this. Ma3k got shots, goals, and saves while line reffing. This will be easier for a line ref to do if there are two goal refs.

I think we should try hard to get the following for every game:

    -Goals/Goal times/Who scored
    -Saves/Who saved

Also good but not necessary would be:

    -Shots on goal
    -Assists
    -Interceptions
    -foot-downs/tap-outs
    -collisions

  • Slocer is a funny misspelling of closer ...

  • it's a bit worrying tbh

  • hey snoops, liking the avatar ;)

i would like to see a stat for when someone gets their valve snapped off with the ball. as Rik said at a throw-in a few weeks ago having inflicted it on someone "that counts more than a goal"

  • is there a game on tomorow anywhere? i want to come done and have a look!

  • Aiming to be at Mitch for 6:30.
    Leaving work in 5.

With all that shit going on when do they get time to smoke and drink cider?

    classic!

  • La Schmoove - SLAP
    5-2, 5-0, 5-0

Cheers for the games La Schmoove - another tough draw for SLAP but at least we're off the mark with a couple of goals in the first game. JB was as quick and efficient as ever. Pique was solid in both defence and offence and Dave was just shit*
Shame not to get some more goals but, as ever, totally enjoyed it - well played J&J!

    *not really

    Really?

During the BFF Tourney it was hard enough to jot down the score, turn the score board, check the stopwatch and keep an eye on the play.

If the stats need to be taken then there needs to be someone else recording them, the line ref needs to always have an eye on the court.

Yeah, it is a lot to keep track of. But if a line ref goes with a piece of paper, better a score pad like John make, then it should be possible to mark down goals, shooters, and time. possibly also count shots on goal.

maybe line refs could keep track of saves and also shots on goal.

fair enough, you're much more experienced (and better) at line reffing than i am. but let's think big. which reminds me, it would be great to mobile scoreboards for league games.

more importantly, can't a line ref jot down goal, shooter, time after each goal? maybe total shots.

and goal refs jot down saves and shots.

  • Totally agree that it would be great to have a record of the stats, but I think it needs to be a separate person.

Most of the league players are really fair players and totally honest about things like tapping out and calling their own shuffles so the line refs job seems pretty easy for most games, but if we are thinking big then we also need to recognise the role of the ref in future games without such honest players. They should have eyes on all players at all times, without getting distracted by making notes etc.

Imagine if a match was decided by a one goal margin, scored by a player who didn't return to his goal after scoring. The ref didn't see it as he was writing down some stats but you can bet your arse the opposing team would blame him for it.

We need a refs union for just this sort of thing ;)

I think you're right. We should aim to have a separate stats keeper at each game. But if that fails to happen, let's try our hardest to keep stats at every game even.

Everyone worker should be in a union. With volunteers maybe an association would be the right thing to do. But if you start getting paid then form a mighty union.

  • yeah, thanks for the games La Schmoove - nice little crowd there at mitch to watch S.L.A.P take another slapping. hard start to the league but good to be on the court with another quality side and take it in and let it count as experience. great finishing from JB tonight - pinpoint accuracy.

on the plus side - a couple of goals gets us off the mark. some great hussle from John and saw Rob enjoy a fair bit of of possession at the dangerous end of the court - i know that will be converted in to more goals in the course of time. for sure. it will come fellas, oh yes.

cheers to bill for reffing and the general shit talk afterwards.

    roll on monday

  • Lezzas: you get your match against the Malice. Newington on Weds?
