  • Damn jonny, I'd just got the Rohypnol.

  • polo dog! yes!

    we already have one.

This whole things concerns me greatly, weve been down there for nearly a year and never had an incident, even down to trying to encourage the kids to play with us, i think these kids aren't usually the ones we see knocking about, (the majority of kids i see normally are black / asian and on sunday there was a lot of white kids) Maybe they feel brace cause its a winter/dark nights thing, but polo players in numbers shouldn't need to be the remedy. I've played down there lots with only 5 of us and never felt threatened. Either they have wised up and realised there are a few bikes knocking about that aren't being looked after or we've pissed someone off. I don't think all the chanting on sunday would have helped, because that was just too loud for residents. i also think we need a cap the lights out time (*11.00pm?) and people need to not seem intimidated. Also bags in the goal always If we act like we need a few of us, then we will need a few of us, but if we act like were here to play, not fight, hopefully they'll get bored. Well done loius.

  • Firsty it's not a big deal, I don't think I put myself into danger, but I wouldn't suggest anyone else do it. Like riding without a helmet, it's a personal choice, I might come acropper one day because it, but I don't like the alternatives.

The important thing to remeber is they are just bullies, they will only try and take stuff if they think there isn't going to be an hassle. They don't actually want to get into a fight. Keeping bikes either away from the entrances to the court or locked would be a good start.

Next time they come I'll pick up my mallet... :-)

  • although going empty handed is less of a threat and makes you look more serious / hard.

  • though re reading your post john i accept you mean playing first then pub. haha, confusion will reign on the court as well tonight.

    keep the faith

    eggsachery!

  • oh yes and back on topic, 7.00 i shall be there with lots of shouts of "hussle jonny!!!!!" and 8 for games.

  • You coming East again, B? Oh how lucky we are! (Stick around for the olympics this time).

  • how do i get my beard as my avatar? feel left out, my avatar looks too much like tom

  • Only the co-team captains can have beard avatars.

    You can be the cup.

  • you are actually correct, you are co-captains to me, the captain. Beards rule and my beard rules over yours, as thicker and fuller than both yours put together.

  • Get a room.

  • no H, i was referring to newt, but will be up for olympics either way!

  • nice one B, looking forward to monday night's double trouble at newington.

  • Beards do rule. I'm making Adrienne make you one right now. She's also working on the Belk.

Who's playing Newington tonight? SLAP vs LS are Mitch, right? Come up north, B. Olympics.

  • he's talking about monday H. monday dude. monday.

  • Fuck, I feel like Pique now.

  • Handsome AND intellegent?

  • You would be deadly!

  • Hey Guys,
Glad no serious incident occurred last night. I noticed a couple of weeks ago you had moved from the grass near the main entrance to the benches at the south end. No bags, bikes and players in the goals keeps the game flowing. I think these c--ts will like another go. Though showing them that you are not prepared to be victims does mean more likely to leave you alone.
The police station is round the corner on Borough High Street, about 300 meters away so might be worth a visit and ask for a more direct telephone number.
Make all the players aware of this situation and maybe have a plan how to deal with it in future.
    See you next week.

  • Sage advice Mr. GrowUp

  • you are actually correct, you are co-captains to me, the captain. Beards rule and my beard rules over yours, as thicker and fuller than both yours put together.

Oh yeah? Yours is monochrome and dull. Ours are colourful, stimulating and far more worthy of note.

+1. A little neighbourliness will go a long way.

  • Firsty it's not a big deal, I don't think I put myself into danger, but I wouldn't suggest anyone else do it. Like riding without a helmet, it's a personal choice, I might BE-come a copper one day because of it, but I don't like the alternatives..... Maybe the SAS ? what do you guys think ?

The important thing to remeber is they are just bullies, they will only try and take stuff if they think there isn't going to be an hassle. This one time at band camp some bullies took my sherbet dip ! They don't actually want to get into a fight. Keeping bikes or sweets away from the entrances to the court or locked would be a good start.

Next time they come I'll pick up my Licorice wand !... :-)

  • Whats that saying about ' Only Fools rushing in ' ?????

    ;)

    Luv ya Lou ! xxx

  • Ma3k: I like your score pad. Can you email me one? mgvidal at gmail.com

I think that keeping details of who scored how many goals is great. Keeping blocked shots is great too. If we do this for all the games then we can aggregate these scores and have an award for most goals and best keeper.

May I recommend that all line refs keep these stats or each game?
