£499 in the specialized catalogue.
Thats what I thought. So how come they're more expensive than the standard Langster in this country? Are we thought of by Specialized as a nation of hipsters, willing to pay more for a bit of steel? Bloody cheek.

• #328
it's probably an error on the us side of things. you sure the $720 wasn't for the s-works frameset?
-
• #329
No. It's on the link in my post.
S-Works frame $990
Steel frame $440
Steel bike $660
Alu bike $720Maybe the Steel price is wrong. But I thought they would have changed it if it was.

shrug..
Sounds wrong though, i can't see any reason why they'd charge more for the alu langster, which will be costing them considerably less than the steel one, considering it's the same frame they've used since '07.
Or maybe that's why they've made it more expensive, they sell more langsters than any other bicycle, apparently.
-
• #331
i dunno mate, it look like that langster is just made in the same old tawian factory like the fuji and bianchi.
-
• #332
yeah but it'll be a smaller run than the alu langsters, therefore probably a bit more expensive per frame that specialized order. Or maybe, due to the fact steel is easier to weld, it's cheaper! I dunno.
-
• #333
it's TIG welded, with the same tubing as the bianchi/fuji (but made to reynold's specification, but netherless the same), £500 is defintely over the top for that frame, even if it is limited run, that much can get you a lovely custom-build mercian.
edit - I realise it's the whole bike, not just the frame, whoop! in that case it's defintely better than a Bianchi Pista in term of value.
-
• #334
indeed, it's a bargain, in fact.
Specialized have shot up to the top of my good books this year, they're better priced on almost every front compared to giant or trek or whatever.
-
• #335
more importantly. it's red.
-
• #336
It looks really nice, no obvious bad choices for components. Visually the only thing I would change if I could would be the black spokes but otherwise it's spot on (unlike the new pistas).
-
• #337
look somewhat different from the original.
Looks like someone's really done his homework and knows what and why sells right now. It's the same move like Adidas bringing back Allstars etc.
-
• #338
barber, that is some high mileage
-
• #339
Very nice indeed.
-
• #340
why on earth does the first one have pedal reflectors and no brakes? must be seen on teh tracK!
edit: and also, $440 frame only and $660 complete? some poor quality components or overpriced frame or both.

"The Langster Steel frame has not been NJS approved. We are looking into it. It does pass the CEN standard tests."
Have you heard of this?

I know, it is an amazing state of being that bike shops are too busy to do walk in repairs, but I for one am really proud of London for producing so many cyclists.

i think it was a shade over 300 miles in the 3 days, 120ish each way to brix, 60 odd on the day of the bikeathon including getting to chelsea and mucking around etc. It was on a geared bike though - wouldnt like to try that kinda mileage fixed! Or if i did try it fixed, i would try not to start each day with a hangover!

i know credit crunch and all, bikes will always need repairing - should learn to do my own spokes, haha - unlikely
-
• #344
It's more than the credit crunch. All the bike shops I went into for supplies on the RAAM were utterly shocked that we had a 3 week waiting list for repairs, and it's not like their aren't poor people in America.

the white one is a thing of beauty.
-
• #349
No, it's an otp produced by a major corporation. It's nice.

Have been eyeing up the red steel one as my first fixed gear bike but it doesn't appear to be available until November!!! I want a bike now!!!
