  • servicing my bike last night and got my finger sucked into my drivechain between the rear cog and chain, its usually the one thing im really careful about. Its cracked the nail and stabbed through abit of flesh, im worried the oil will make it infected and i ndont really wanna go to hospital if i can avoid it, anyone else done this and did it heal its self ok?

  • It will heal itself. But your cock will get AIDS.

  • you can lose a finger like that if you're not careful. Lucky it sounds like a minor injury. HTFU you're fine. ;)

  • ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow

  • Did this a month ago. Tooth of cog went most of the way though my thumb, right on the side of the nail. healed up nicely though. Wether or not it gets infected will be very apparent soon I would imagine.

  • Maybe wash it...?

  • open it up and scrub with a nail brush then splat on some ti-septic stuff.

repeat each time it goes red.

  • yeh i sprayed it with savlon and put a bandage on it, i cant get the oil out of the cuts though, not sure how nasty oil is regarding germs etc

  • Had a tetnus jab any time this millennium...?

  • Lucky you lived to tell the tale.

Great big baby, it is a bit of oil, not fucking Ebola.

  • I wouldn't play dice with my health (unless I'm partying, but that's different :)). go seek medical advice, voidcore.

  • 'germs' dont thrive in oil mate,
its relatively safe, unless you have HIV?

Nah you'll be fine, your immune system will fight it off, keep it clean, and use antiseptic creams

  • Personally I would not want fine metal particles in my blood stream...

  • Ouch. I'd be majorly pissed if i did anything to my hands (touch wood / carbon, depending on how roadie i'm feeling)

  • I did this a month ago, and required stitches all good now though.

  • nhsdirect?

  • Personally I would not want fine metal particles in my blood stream...

not sure if they would enter the bloodstream via a cut...

more likely the blood will clot around the wound and any foreign matter will be pushed to the surface with the clotted blood and dead skin.

I'm not a doctor, but does this sound fair enough?

You should be, now on yer bike and ride.

  • Do the other hand so you don't look like a freak.

You won't find them. They'll find you.

  • Happened to me on my GT single speed. Hurt like fuckery but healed OK

  • bajan did this when he first bought his bike, his wasnt that bad tho, grease doesnt do anythign bad to you (so ive heard), its where vaseline came from or something? oil rig workers used to put the grease from the mnachinery on their cuts or somethign mad?

  • You will know for sure tonight. Hope you pissed on your finger straight away, no?
If it gets very swollen and the skin bit itchy and hard, then go to the A&E - just in case it's not a Staphylococcus aureus infection, which can be sometimes if you ride through some shit or ever had before this sort of infection, as you'll never rid of this bacteria and it sticks for life jumping on any chance to kill you off.
Use chain whip next time :-)

  • Stick the finger in your mouth and keep it there for 2 months.

  • If you did this properly your nail will fall off and then grow back in a mutant fashion. Respect....
