actually TDV might work out well. If I want to get this frame on the road in a hurry I can get a bike loan (not cyclescheme) of up to £500 for "cycles and equipment needed to cycle".
Will pop in tomorrow... Keep meaning to have a nose around. -

I am slightly gutted that I didn't get my set of 'guards for my other bike powder coated to match that frame, but they are chrome and the bike has (almost) all silver parts so it doesn't look too bad. Besides, the 'guards will live on the Steamroller but the 'guards for the Peregrine are only for occasional use, so I expect they will get a little battered anyway taking them on and off.

I'm keeping them and getting a wheelset built with Gran Compe hubs. Has anyone experience / any idea of how difficult getting a good chainline with this setup would be? How should I prepare to get through this without too much sweating? This will be my first fixer so yeah

Right then. Are you sure you can't remove the cranks. I've found soaking them in plus gas (anti seize spray) for 24hrs will 9 times out of 10 do the trick. If this fails then heating the seized area with a blowtorch then using a crank extractor should work. Otherwise I feel your gonna be in a hold world of pain as road chainsets usually require a b/b with a width of 116-122.5 whereas single speeds (fixed) usually need between 107-110. If I were you try and get the cranks off then see if you can remove the b/b. 10% effort 110% reward....... -

Horses for courses I guess. I have to admit tho that the seatpost stinks (ex langster) and I did used to have a nice tan suede selle Laser saddle which my bro skanked. I'm stoked with the cinelli stem and flat bars mind you!.........This is a current project don't cha know:) -

basic new shimano BB = £15 MAX, less if you hunt around. There's half assed then there's lazy.
see what chainline your current BB gives, then compare that to the chainline on your wheel.
eg. If your current BB is say 118mm and gives a chainline of 52mm and your rear wheel has a chainline of 47mm, you need to knock 5mm off your chainline/10mm off your BB spindle length. Therefore, in this scenario you would get a new BB with a spindle length of 108mm.

nope, your stem is 80mm, not 90mm, you measure it wrong!

This is a frame I'd like to make a fixed bike out of.
But it has way too many scratches on it, I was wondering if you lot think I should strip it back to the frame itself or...? - Is it worth doing so?I dunno, I don't want to leave it the way it is. The white stuff has come off.
Mongrel, why don't you pop down to Tour De Ville instead? I'm sure you can find what you want, and talk to Jos about how to build it up properly.
regarding rims, you can't go wrong with a simple, cheap and reliable mavic open pro, but if deep v is your desire, Tour De Ville have some chrome Rigida DP18 lying around, not sure if they still have them.
