I use headphones randomly... I have not an specific opinion regarding their convenience/safety of using them.
But I always think about something:
Is there not **deaf riders **on the road?
-
• #155
Yes, we have one on the forum.
-
• #156
Two, apparently. I never wear headphones or listen to music, I like to know what is goin on around me. Also a mate was riding with headphones in, they got tangled up in his front wheel and sent him flying..

One of them doesn't ride.

Sounds nasty. Poor headphones!

Headphones are just shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
Music is for listening to on loudspeakers or even better, live.
Listen to music. Or walk around / ride around, and take part in it! Don't try to do both at the same time. Don't be a fucking lemming. You look a prick nodding on the tube, sucker.
Anyone remember how uncool headphones were just before iPods were released? Fucking nerdy loser gear is what they were. Now you can carry your entire music 'collection' as digital compressed shit files, why are they suddenly OK?
Carry on. See if I care. Cunts.

Jeez, strong opinion there skully...
You continue sitting on the tube in uncomfortable silence with the rest of the plebs, and I'll continue living my life with my selected soundtrack wherever I go, nodding and smiling like a prick. A self satisfied, well entertained prick.

Ha! Funny you say that, the headphones were fine. My friend managed to chin himself though.

Armchair cyclist?

Don't get me wrong I love music. Just not whilst I'm walking down the street or yes sitting on a train.
I think low frequencies need room to breathe.
I think I could just about handle a talking book, on a plane or somehwere where I'm really happy to be cut off from my surroundings.

I don't see the problem with having your ability to hear traffic behind you slightly affected. At least when wearing headphones you are aware of that and don't rely on your ears. Now that electric cars & trucks are becoming more common you need to look over your shoulder anyway.

Do you live in London and commute on the major roads?

Is it more sinful to resurrect an old thread or start a new one on a previously discussed topic?
-
• #171
Thanks for that.
-
• #172
Who me? I must confess that I missed out the whole of page two before my last post. Doh!
-
• #173
No, not you. I'm being referred as an armchair cyclist, when they know full well that I feel nervous going on the roads, though i had a go this sunday for a small distance, and waiting to hear back on training.

Ha, oh I see! How's the Gitanne going?
-
• #175
Gitane's going all good, finally roadworthy after changing the tyres on it, just gotta change the saddle/stem position to make it more comfortable, and myself to get more confident!
