Nhatt, just think of it as Darwinism in action (and hope upon hope that he rides nowhere near you).

I'd love a pair of STAX

The Koss Porta Pros are fantastic for £20, but they do catch on your hair (if your have longish hair).
They are better than the Wesc Oboe's.
However neither pair really retain sound so if you like to crank it up, everyone else will hear the effect as well.

Im getting tired of people riding with headphones nearly killing pretty much on a daily basis. They seem to be oblivious to the world around them.

At least you're seeing them for the first time... :-(

I used to ride with headphones and stopped as your road awareness seems to get muffled with your hearing. I started wearing 'phones again around Richmond park, but now it feels wrong.

Probably get them cheaper on ebay, look crap but always stay in your ear but you can still hear road noise.

I've never been able to ride with headphones, seems to fuck with my spacial awareness (BMX) and my concentration in general. Coming out from blind junctions is a nightmare with headphones on. Saying that I rate headphones that have in ear style grommets. Sony and Sure make real good ones between £30 - 65.

I cycle with one of these in my right ear, because I can get bored cycling, and music helps me keep to a rhythm. Mainly Drum & bass.
And having one earphone means I can be slightly more aware of the minuscule amounts of traffic that pass me (I cycle in the French countryside, so don't need to be very aware...)
Though the few times I've cycled in London, I have never worn headphones (and never will)... -

What difference does it make? Should I have started a new thread only to then inevitably be redirected to this thread?

My DoE instructor swears never to wear earphones again.
He couldn't hear the lorry beeping him from behind to pull to the side.
Lorry went to overtake and killed a girl on another bike who the driver didn't see.
:/Cycling speakers are available though...

I never used to run headphones because I tried it with some awesome sound cancelling senneheisers, great for sound quality, great for nearly gettin yourself killed. I soon switched to Some Sony sports jobbies, that hang over the ear instead of in it, And blok out very little noise If any. Now I can't ride alone without them. I am still totally aware of all traffic, cycle motor or otherwise (well, as much as if no phones were worn) and I can have a great soundtrack for every ride! I've ridden them all through London (as I've been discovering it) and I'm telling you, if you like music at all, it's for the win. Drum 'n' bass don't really work for me, I've tried it... My favourite riding albums recently have been:
madlib-blunted in the bomb shelter- reggae/dub has a great beat
beats 'n' rhymes- hip hop of the 90's, all 3 albums - a bit generic but some real good tracksand I actually had an awesome riding experience recently to a vince jones & grace knight album called "come in spinner"- some smooth jazz standards late at night is so peaceful to ride with, the whole thing was so cool...
But a lot of the time I jus got my iPod on random
I BACK IT! Get the little hangy-over-your-ears sporty numbers and get some beat to your ride!!!

I ride along the canal with headphones everyday, i can hear bells if needed and it's pretty damn rear that someone needs to pass me. it's a long ride and get boring if i don't have them.
soon as I hit the road though they come out.
cheap ones that barely sit in your ear seem to be the best option. -

http://www.mashsf.com/store.phpI really like the little MP3 player thing they've got for sale.
Although I wouldn't buy it, I'm sure they are about 10% of the MASH price from the distributor or something.
Actually come to think of it.. if it really is that robust and has quality sound it isn't that expensive..

Never use headphones as had far too many close calls without them. If you wear them and come a cropper by doing something stupid then its your own fault.

I have never properly ridden with headphones in and don't plan to - I can't imagine being comfortable with them in. Makes me nervous just thinking it.

;o))))))
I think you only need to listening out if you intend on taking the risk of jumping a red, otherwise, your eyes will guide you on the road.
