No, I think it should be fine as it is - forward facing horizontal d/outs.

Well thank you guys I was ready to get slaughtered. It is hard to find good parts where I am, Sweden. But I have got lots of help from guys on this site. The paint is original from late 50:s early 60:s. It has quite a dent in the top tube from handle bars swinging around. Have sent photos to Mercian showing the damage and they tell me to keep it as is an ride it keeping an eye out for cracks and so forth. It would be "killing puppies" big time to have it repainted. If I really like the bike i might have the dent filled by Mercian and have them just repaint as much as needed, maybe stripe part of the top tube red? The white tape will be shellacked (spelling?) to blend in better and a regina pista silver chain goes on there...

As some of you know this bike/wheelset has been a bit of a pain/on going project but I have finally got there, well almost.

I just need to give it a final polish and put a white charge spoon saddle on it (currently on my road bike) and it will all be done.

I thought I would put on my budget peugeot build. Frame found in a ditch. Only about £100 spent on it so far. New orange cloth bar tape is on its way and I am on the look out for new pedals, but I am super skint! Yeah, the photo was taken before chain adjustments!

Any idea what this frame is? I found one in my friends shed and intend to make it my new project.

hm.. might as well join in seeing as it's my frame that prompted it, even though I posted the "etc. etc." knowing it was all said before. i've spoken to a couple of people on here who've had no problem with the magic gear in terms of chain wear screwing it up and I'd prefer to go that route if I can as i feel you're limited to the strengths and weaknesses of whichever eccentric hub you get (and they don't come cheap). But in terms of the BB - there are obviously attendant limitations here too - what cranks do you have as options using an eccentric bb?

I've noticed 'chain stretch' on all the chains I've used. Granted these have all been at the cheaper end of the scale: izumi, sram and KMC. Not so long ago I had to find a magic gear for my first vertical dropped frame and used a fresh(and cheap)! KMC. STretched half an inch in about a week. I then switched to a chain about two years old (sram + pre-stressed) that has the same number of links but is about a sixth inch shorter and has done me well since.

ha thats an old picture! gosh it was ugly. Oh and I put new/old long risers brakeless on it since my last update. It looks real nice :) picture up tomorrow maybe.

New here - enjoying the forums and learning a lot.

Thought I'd share this Claud Butler I was lucky enough to pick up from Freecycle.

So far I have (with some great help from a local mechanic):-
Swapped bars and stem from another bike I had
Stripped the gears (of course!!)
Changed the wheels for a couple I picked up at a boot fair
Added new seatpost and my old Charge Spoon ( again from another bike).

Have some aero brake levers on the way from Parkers which is the last thing I plan to do for a while.

Can't seem to find any info about this "Mistral" model - anyone know anything about it? It has the Olympic rings graphic on it so may be some tie in to one of the games?

I've had similar mysrterious break-in periods with some chains. I just don't talk about it. it's a dead horse though right?

It has clover leaf cut outs in the lugs and fork and sprayed on logos, so i'm pretty sure it's a real Colnago.

Ah !!

It's just my initials and surname - got in to the habit of using it for most things!!

Hope to start building these up this week.
