@ ehren_fried_chicken, I would be up for this but im away until the 18th. Please let me know if you hold another class or change dates.
-
• #328
I'm not dead set on a particular date but someone said upthread that they wanted to do it before the second half of June. If you would like to learn get 2-4 people to commit to a date and I'm game. Doing this is a little like herding cats though.

Nick, i live in e3.
I will pm directions and instructions when I get back from holiday on Tuesday. There's lots of info in this thread. Just read back about two pages.
Tcman, we could do a second session on the 21st if there is interest.

Just judge by tone when you flick the spokes and by squeezing adjacent spokes together.

Cool, i need to measure up rims and hubs for spokes but provided all arrives in time i'm in
-
• #340
Fried chicken, can't find ambrosio front hub on your spoke length calc. is there a hub it share dimensions with or od u know what length i need to lace to a deep v, 32 hole 3 cross
-
• #343
Guys, strongly advise against a spoke threader, the threads are not great when they come out of that thing, and with the style of riding you do you will pop them.
Save your pennies and buy the right length spokes.
Thats my advise.

Highly recommend ehren_fried_chicken's wheel building classes. Here are some photos from the last one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/72906268@N00/sets/72157619682644324/

I have to bail on todays session, due to feeling like death. If there is one next weekend, I'll sign up for that one though..

Just to say thanks to ehren_fried_chicken for today's class. A very pleasant afternoon - I learned a lot. E_F_C was patient and explained it all well.
recommended.

If any spaces come up in future, I really really want to learn how to build wheels- it would be super handy and I've been looking at videos on youtube and it looks deceivingly easy when the pros do it! I don't quite trust myself!

+1 to Rodeo, I would absolutely love to learn to build wheels. Ehren could you please let me know of your next session when planned, evenings are better for me than weekends (3 kids - always somewhere to be !!)
Cheers

I think there will be a session next Sunday; tcman is calling the shots on this one since I messed him about a little bit.

roadiesan, rodeo, kx.001 and whoever else wanted to learn: I will do a session on Sunday noon. If you can't get the components in time you can use an old wheel (I have one) to practise.
If in London I'm interested.
I have two old rear wheels from geared bikes I'd like to convert to fixed. Would this be a sensible way to go abouts learning how?
