Oops, try this: http://lenni.info/edd/Wheelbuilding_instructions.pdf
What time should we say on the 6th? 1 o'clock?
You will need the following for the class:
- hubs, rims, spokes, nipples
- spoke key
- flat headed screwdriver (must fit through the outer holes of the rim)
- a little take away box or food container (nipples have a tendency to go walkies)
- hubs, rims, spokes, nipples

I'm not sure I'll have my rims and spokes by 6th. I've a very manky old 27" wheel I could pull apart and put back together, but not sure if it's worth it. I'll do my damnedest though.

1pm is fine by me.
I've also had something canceled, so Sun 13.9 is free as well if 6.9 is too soon. But, to avoid confusion, let's stick to 6.9. 1pm.

OK, either date should be good for me. Damn, need to get out and order the bits. I do have a truing stand that I can bring, not sure if its the best.

• #407
Shit, can't do the 6th. Dunno about the next weekend either.
-
• #408
I definitely can't do the 6th, so will have to bail. Really sorry.
I could do 20/9, 26/9, 3/10, 4/10, but that may be some way off for anyone else who's desperate to learn.

- Kboy
- D. Generate (not 5th, not 12th)
- Reginald (not 100% sure I can make it or If I'll have any cash to get parts before hand but im very interested)
How is 6.9 1pm looking for the rest? Are you getting sorted with the parts? Anyone else wanting to put their name down for the class please do so I seem to remember there were couple more people looking to build.
I'll pm the address to those who are coming and my phone number is in the numbers thread if you get lost :)

I'm still on for this.
Mirius, are you anywhere near East London? Would you lend your truing stand?
-
• #411
I'm still game. I have a wheel or two I can pull apart to practise rebuilding.
-
• #412
^ I've got some hubs on the way and soon I'll be building my 1st wheel set, so I've been keeping an eye on this thread.
Is it £20 for the session?

I'd definitely be up for this, can't make this weekend because of work but I really want to learn how to build wheels. I've already got the hub I want, just need to sort a rim and the right spokes and I'll come along to the next one for sure.
Just pulled apart a spare wheel and it won't go back together, I've forgotten which way the spokes were arranged, d'oh

Shit. Sorry to bail at the last minute but an emergency has come up and I won't be able to make the class today.
-
• #415
Well, that was a bit of a showing up fail. Attendance: 0.

• #416
Hey... nice chat though and I got tons of undone bike maintenance done and a free afternoon.
That's the positive side.
On the negative, EFC bothered his ass coming over and I'd reserved the time and space for this. I understand and appreciate that things do come up, but come on.
There. Rant off. Ride on.

Any more wheel build classes going on?
I've built a pair but wouldn't mind making sure they're right.

+1 would love to have a go
Sun 6.9 sounds good to me.
I've added my number in the numbers thread. If you could text for address or pm for directions, I'd like that better than posting them here.
Tools and parts that I have are
Truing stand: 1
Spokes keys: 2
Screwdrivers and a spokes driver.
!No dishing tool!
Spokes: Alpine spokes for £10/wheel if anybody needs them. Not all lengths though so would have to check first.
Hubs: Miscellaneous collection of track hubs&some BMX. Campa High and Low, Gipiemme, Ofmega, Shimano. Not mine but can ask for details and price if anyone is interested.
