  • Fuck you.

  • Fuck you.

    meh...

  • meh.

  • Hah!

  • Thanks guys!
Although this is what I was thinking of during the Mac vs. PC argument:

    haha

  • Once you've had an Apple you NEVER go back, they're so far ahead it's fscking silly. And you can run XP on them anyway !! Initial cost may be higher but resale value is much higher and cost of ownership is low. The metal MacBook is the best value lappy out there by such a long way I realise it's difficult for ppl who've never used one to understand...

So far ahead .... Wait a sec, lets get proper techy shall we. Other than the shiny GUI (which is I personally find frustrating to use), It's basically a FreeBSD userland, set of GNU/BSD programs, XNU kernel and a set of APIs.

    Nothing revolutionary there.

  • The only reason I am moving to Apple is because of how much I hate Windows Vista. Been using Windows since Win98 (not a long time I know).

  • No one is forcing you to use Vista. I don't use Vista.

  • But with all systems "Optimised for Vista", does that mean it won't run XP properly? (Nub here)

  • It's bollocks. Ignore it.

  • oh right yeah the 'classic' i called you a dick but the smiley made it okay. f*ck off.

If your judgment of computers is as bad as your judgment of people then you'll recruit a lot of people to PC use on here.

  • im XP Pro all the way !
btw hippy you could have sorted your dispute with Mr Benjam at Westies,
    you were both there!
with a drinking competition or ping pong or who can burp the loudest or something :D

  • Well I'd be fucked if it was ping pong..

  • macs rule! until they die after 8 years or so and it costs so much to buy a new one. But windows based laptops won't last that long. I had 0 problems with my ibook till it died last year. 0. it never crashed, froze, nothing. PCs will never be that good.

  • it's a dichotomy.

  • I had a Mac for 6 years. It was solid. It did crash. Not as much as a Windows machine of the day but it did crash.
My Windows machine now is rock solid. It depends what you do with them. I pretty much use mine for a bit of work, lots of forum posting and the occasional Mac-user baiting. :)

  • its funny how the new windows looks like a mac OS though innit? since mac had the icons at the bottom of the screen each new windows os has slowly moved them down too.

  • i have sony vaio laptop my other half pinched from work and thats ok, but does crash a bit. laptops are sooo cheap though. same price as an ipod now. i could probably stop the vaio from crashing but i'm a bit shit on computers, but the mac, it was flawless for years.

  • I used to be so loyal to pc and never had anything bad to say about them, but now looking at this it's just so weird! I converted to Mac about two years ago and have never looked back. Tell them to invest and do the same... the no virus part is always good, for anyone.

Otherwise, Novatech is always worth looking into.

  • no virus! i forgot about that. that is amazing.

  • To be honest, with the University discount I get it's Dell or Mac. I've used Dell all the time till I built my own PC. Never going back to them, they're cheap till you add even the most basic stuff. Then they rape you. It's like cinema tickets. You pay as much for yoru food as you do for the ticket (sometimes..).
Conclusion - Dells, they're like cinema tickets! As you were...

  • Thought I'd add to the already controversial topic:

    There is no god.

  • Woah everybody!!

    What is it?

Its a Fujistu-Siemens Amilo Pro. I'm going to up the memory to a gig (from 192!), strip all the useless shit out and see what's it like.

  • Who the fuck still gets viruses these days?

I don't use AV or a software firewall and my XP system is still nice and quick. Installed AVG the other day to have a full scan anyway. Nothing found - After 9 months of being 'unprotected'.

As long as you don't visit dodgy sites, or open suspect attachments from Hippy, you're fine.

    Meh.
