  • this'll have new kit on it as well. less italian racer though, more british lightweight (like me!).

  • I was hoping that he'll use it as an everyday bike, was going for an Olympus Road frame, but decided that an Audax frame would make a great commuter as well as riding around the Pyrenees next year.

    should look like this;

  • Bob Jacksons are supposed to be boring aren't they? for decades they have been the reserve of middle-aged bicycles enthusiasts and mudguarded nerds. it's bizarre that everyone suddenly has a hard-on over a bit of lugged steel.

    ...thoughts?

my first! I need some colour in my life (racist).

You do confuse me sometimes Josh :)

  • To be fair he is keeping it as a boring road bike..

  • three weeks and about £250 later, mixture of new and old parts, the Edison is built, bit of a mix of colours, I have an obsession with orange but I think it looks alright and not bad for a first go, say hi if you see me on it:

  • orange + red + brown = :S

    if you like it though..

  • Scott, I wasn't suggesting boring is a bad thing and I certainly wasn't putting down Bob Jacksons and the like. this'll be just a nice ordinary bike. although i am liking the green. Sorry, where was the contradiction?

  • orange + red + brown = :S

    if you like it though..

ha, +1. i like that you added the diplomatic 'as long as you're happy...'!

  • yeah very diplomatic : ) no problem, each to their own and all that

  • I hate sounding like a prick about subjective things like aesthetics so I try to be quick with the "it's only my opinion" and "if you like it" sentiments

  • me too. it's cool anyway, i was just joshing. it's the colours of fire! it's a hot whip, literally. it's cool and hot. you dig?

  • I haven't seen many brown fires :P

If that's what you've seen though.....

  • SP- tourer?

Looks like that's what you're building up though...

My new toy. Will probably stick some dirt jump/singletrack forks on the front, but it's to fill in the gap between my DH bike and the fixed that the theft of my Zaskar left last year...

  • cheers, hopefully not the bike version of this:

  • Picked up this today from t' North after a lucky Ebay find and months of scouring. Head spinning with all the ideas but its got to be sensible as gonna have a child carrier on it soon so really tempted to just make subtle changes and enjoy it as is.

  • that's very nice.

  • Looks like that's what you're building up though...

    not really, but sort of.
If you imagine a really modern version of Skullhead Wildernesses new bike then thats the closest to it's idea.

It means that I can get rid of a few bikes which all half do the job of carrying huge amounts of stuff everywhere.

  • Mercian track frame,
bought from lucky7, thanks the nice guy
now I got the nice frame

    Awesome build Marco.
I knew you would do the frame justice.

  • thanks a lot.

    Awesome build Marco.
I knew you would do the frame justice.

  • Needs a new saddle i think..

  • my god fred, that is tight

    that'll be £20 please, mate.

    sorry, pavlovian response.

  • Needs a new saddle i think..

Lovely! Maybe get some black spacers for the headset?

Change the saddle if it's uncomfortable - rolls are great and durable - no point in bling if it hurts your arse - plus this looks like a trick bike, so comfort in the saddle area is probably a good idea.

  • White carbon fibre.

  • Needs a new saddle i think..

Saw that bike today at Carnaby Street when locking up me and the missus' bike, or was that someone else? those BMW are pretty identical.

  • New (to me) wheels... Baylis-Wiley hubs on 27" Weinmann rims, 32 on the front and 40 on the back... Cups were a bit pitted but they should roll OK, no skids! Think I'm gonna have a hard time getting 1" Panaracer Paselas to stay on the rim (no hook!)... Gonna stick them on the Mercian in time for Veteran's Day at Herne Hill next weekend... Sunday wheels!!! :]

nice looking wheels, what are the bike age rules for veterans day
