  • had a chat with a few i bike mcr peeps today and as the weather is going to be well SHITE this weekend we are gonna postpone the formby ride/campover for a few weeks. Instead we shall ride into Cheshire at 12noon for a few hours...expect around 30 miles at a decentish pace in the rain (bring waterproofs)...meet at the bar in chorlton on Wilbraham road.
if you want to join us please let me know so we can get an idea of numbers
    and read this first...

  • i'd be well up for the fornby camping ride if it's a good weekend for me. i'll keep an eye on the dates for it

prob a similar route to the southport ride i did recently. also want to work out my cycling/camping set up cause i'm doing a week in ireland in july.

  • just a reminder we have these booked in...

    Sat 23rd May:

    Suggestion

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2599363

54 miles (Out via Disley, back via Macc/Alderley).

Can cut it down a bit by getting train to Disley/Whaley Bridge

Hilly, but of the long drag rather than the oh fuck variety. Includes descent of the Cat and Fiddle, which is about as good as it gets.

    Saturday 13th June
Ride to Alton Towers (with overnight camp, poss ride there and camp someplace nice then go on the rides the following day then get train back)
Meet at Noon at Chorlton Green.
We shall ride on quiet roads where possible

  • where are you meeting for the saturday ride nes?

I still owe you for the velodrome too, so can sort that on sat

  • at chorlton green but remembered about this....

  • my friend from leeds is coming for the ride.obv we can ride it with just a few of us, but wondered if anyone else wants to come. i'll print off enough maps for numbers. I need cheering up and those hills will def distract me but you might need gears....or thighs of titanium.

  • weather forecast says sunshine on saturday too!

and if it's really super sunny we can go here, as the ride goes right by it...

the blue lagoon ste was on about a while ago..

  • I hope to do this but will have to be back in Chorlton for 5 ish. It's a long time since I did some hills, I'll dust the bike off tonight (literally) to see if it still works.

  • yeah i wanna be back pretty early too..don't reckon it'll take more than 5 hours...though you never know..just sorted out that gear problem on the bob so should be ok this time...can't blame the bike any more, just my unfitness...bollocks.

  • ill probably be revising but there is also the stockport polo thing on saturday..........

  • I'll be out for this assuming the promised good weather actually appears. I'm sick to fucking death of getting soaked. Can't do too many stops as need to nip into work on the way home at about 4.30.

  • yeah i kinda feel the same..if it's pissing down i think we should dramatically shorten the ride otherwise any tiny bit of cheer i have left will be lost..

  • Nes, are we still on for today? I'll need to shave my legs if we are going up some hills.

  • I'm on for it, weather will be OK (no rain anyway). You serious about yer legs ?

  • Shaving as we speak! No, no smooth legs today - I'll be lucky if I get up the hills today. I have literally just had to dust my bike, it's been over a year since it last moved from beside my bed. I'm gonna take it for a spin now, see if I can remember how to freewheel and change gear.

  • Just remember braking with your legs won't work. Caught me out a while back did that.

  • bollocks. i literally drank about 20 pints last night and was in the goddam bar of sand from 6pm til about 2:30am....so feel pretty damn rough...BUT! i shall still be there, however i think i might be even more of a snails pace than usual, feelin pretty rough...me and zero meeting at unicorn for hotdogs at 1130 if you wanna join us...

  • Just remember braking with your legs won't work. Caught me out a while back did that.

Jesus, you're not wrong Ronnie. A very weird feeling indeed. When you stop pedalling your legs spin backwards slightly.

    See you at the Unicorn.

  • Well, that was fun(?)... got dropped by Ness coming back out of Alderley. Feeling very old right now.

  • that was intense..but amazing!

    next ones are:

    Sat 6th June:
56 miles, out via Marple and Glossop, over Holme Moss from the 'easy' side.

  • i am trying to move my cleats back but no allen key fits..i don't think it's cos they are too fucked from being walked on (as i can still see the hex shape) i vaguely remember a special allen key?? am i right? does anyone have one? it would be like a 2 3/4 or summat....x

  • Bollox. Gutted I didn't catch up with you guys, looked like a great ride. What time did you set off? Got to Manchester about 12.45 (via the trafford centre which wasn't planned) and couldn't find Chorley green. Made it up goyt valley to buxton but then had to turn back to get back to liverpool (plus I don't know the way from macclewsfield).

Such an awesome day though, but i was talking to myself by the end of the ride.

  • we left at about 12.10...shame you didn't catch us..next time x
