I was thinking about making a batch of knurled, bow shaped bars as a little project but I got stuck on how to bend the bars into shape. any suggestions?

It's interesting for me because in London I can understand people being a bit wound up about a knife thread.. but I bet this would go down just fine back home.
I don't quite see why it's on a bike forum but this place has always been a bit random. We established the fact that the car thread is fine and any thread can be ignored, etc. so if knives aren't your thing... ignore or move along.

2. Pipe bending machine found in a metal shop would work. We used to have them at school and they could curve tube or solid steel rods.

I know that quite a few people get hard over bow bars and like you I <3 knurled metal as well so thought I would just do a little service and give something back to the forum (donating profits)

I thought pipe bending machines only bent in right angles.
Ive got access to a sheet bender (the one with rollers) but apparently you cant curve tube with it

But what are bow bars? You actually mean handlebars?
It might be tricky to knurl tubing.. any engineers here?

I started it as a piss take, as I thought the whole knife appreciation thread was pretty pathetic....and i'm not talking just about the OP.
For the record I don't actually give a shit about knives, or the craftsmanship of said knives, or any of that crap.
As far as I am concerned a knife has only one purpose in life, to cut things, and I can't understand how anyone can possibly find anything about them exciting,

If you watched any videos of the amount of work and skill that goes into making a hand crafted knife from scratch then you may see it slightly differently.

As far as a lot of people are concerned, a bike is just something to get you to the shops and back when your car is in the workshop, then to be dumped in the garden again when you're done....but that doesn't make me any less passionate about them, or any less appreciative of the skill that goes into making them.

I'm taking the rear brakes off all my bikes.. and then riding around London looking for CJ..

If you or anyone else want to talk about or collect knives and admire there craftmanship then thats great, whether I think its crap or not is irrelevant, because you should do what makes you happy in life, my main sentiment behind that post was that I think its pathetic that people were getting up in arms just because other members were discussing "knives" and they thought it was wrong, and that those people were branding other people nutcases/psychos etc, you're not harming yourself or anyone else (as far as I know!), so I don't get what the big fucking issue is that people have with it.

It's not so much the bikes Tim, its the idiots that so often ride with these setups without truly being able to control the bike adequately....you know those people they see all these other cool people riding around with only a front brake, and they think that looks cool, maybe i'll just do that on my bike to, then I can be just as awesome. Just as irritating as "da brakless riders" who can't control their bikes properly either.....and they are both just as comical when they crash due to their fashion over function bike setups ;)....I think the rest of this discussion is best left for the pub lol.
