First two laps were interesting...
2nd half of the pack were 3 abreast into corners for a lot longer than normal.

How the hell did you swing that one you lucky bastard!
Just a work trip sir. Y'know . . . a normal working week etc etc. ;)

Loved DC's quote on the F1 forum...
'Raikkonen will be happy to get points on the board, I dare say he would have pushed a little harder is there had been Champagne on the podium instead of Rose Water. He's not a man known for partying without alcohol@
.. or something like that if memory serves me correctly. Enjoyed the race today, glad to finally see Ferrari with points on the board. Martin Brundle raised an interesting point about Ferrari. His opinion if that that most of the team's time and resources in the off season looked to be spent on fancy innovations (like KERS) and not on the basics of a good car. Looks to be costing them dear!

I loved Kimi's reply to DC's comments about him not being able to develop a car:

"I think it's pretty funny to hear comments like those from people who never really achieved anything. It's none of my business, what a guy,"
haha

Looks like Ferrari are pretty close to Brawn development-wise...
Actually, even with toasters, Ferrari can't touch Brawn...

Would be good if it doubled up as an iron.

They got a ban for something that happened at least 14 years ago? =P
They got off very lightly but have got to tread lightly for the rest of the season so this ban doesn't get put into effect.

Race ban details. This is really interesting, and makes me think a deal might have been done, to enable Mclaren to keep racing, by Dennis stepping down. Dennis was the thorn in the side that neither Moseley nor Ecclestone much cared for. His stepping down, I feel is certain to have dictated the leniency of the punishment.

Another possibility is that at the minute, McLaren aren't title contenders, but if they should become title contenders, the FIA can bring this in to put them at a disadvantage, of course, this is assuming that there is an axe to grind against McLaren, which is not true of course...

It's official!!! Refuelling banned next year!!!!!
Now all we need is to stop this silly medal idea and 2010 will be one of the best seasons of the past decade or so!

Gotta check that out, got a Graham Hill one that needs watching too.
We very may well have a few 4WD cars next year...
The more I hear about these rule changes, the less i'm looking forward to the 2010 season.
Why can't they just keep the aero regulations, keep slicks, give first place 12 points, get rid of refueling (yes I know they're doing it anyway but it deserves listed =P) forget KERS, forget 4WD, forget the bloody medals and screw the idea that any team who accepts the budget cap can have constantly adjustable wings.

remember that kid I told you to look out for? " Brenden Hartly" ... he just got his F1 superlicence and will race in the Euro F3 in Germany ... hes very good but obviously green by F1 standards - ... hes sponsored by Red Bull who compare him to Alonslowww..think he'll make a impact in the years to come

Yep, no more refuelling, pit stops are gonna be just for tyres which means they're going to be even more frantic and we're gonna see people trying to conserve fuel at the end being caught by the guys who fueled a little heavier, probably see a few Mansell wannabes running out of fuel on the last lap too =P
-
• #595
Oh, and no more tyre warmers =D Should make the first lap pretty exciting as well as guys just coming out of the pits.

If there is no refuelling, then how can anyone have fuelled a little heavier?
Wouldn't all cars have to take on full fuel loads for the race? Who could race with less?
Or does this only apply to practices and qualifying?
-
• #597
Some cars will be fuelled more agressively than others for the weight advantage, so they may have just enough to finish the race (according to their calculations) some may race with more conservative fuel loads just to be cautious or so that if they wish they can really push their engines near the end of the race (as some cars will have engines with no rev limits next year) without having to worry about running out of fuel, before refuelling was allowed there would always be a few drivers who were driving at much lower revs so that they wouldn't run out of petrol, being caught by those that had plenty left. Should make it much better to watch, and none of this "he's officially in #th place, but after the pit stops he should be in #th place" just good simple racing.
Plus of course some engines might just be more effecient than others, dare we even think of the possiblity of an F1 car with "one of those" engines in a few years?

I think its a very bad idea, but I wait to be proved wrong.
Much like KERS has artificially demoted teams like Ferrari, I think this, apparently fair idea, is lame.
The bigger budgeted teams, will focus on fuel range development, and thereby create an imbalance that poorer teams could have taken advantage in varying refuelling strategies.
We'll see, as the blind man said.
-
• #599
To be fair, refuelling wasn't used until about 15 years ago, so all the teams will know how to deal with it, all the big teams will know how to develop an engine, and there is no small team who have their own engine, they're supplied by someone else (Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota, Renault) so that won't be a problem.
Though I agree that KERS is a bloody stupid idea.

Alright it's not F1, but this is still a bloody great video that I had to share:

- melandri drift[/ame]In other psuedo-F1 news, Adam Carroll of Team Ireland has won the A1GP title!
Fair race, Button deserved the win. Vettel drove well but didn't show much flair getting stuck behind Trulli all that time.
