@Donoevil. Love the look of that saddle, looks to be the same shape as a Selle Italia SLR to me.
Anyone tried one of these, Fizik Gobi. Its for a MTN bike.
had one for a week and it hurt loads, put my old spoon back on and no problems.
charge spoon is the best, cheap, comfy, awesome!

For the money you can't beat the charge spoon, and also looks good on my old dawes.

...how dull would it be if all arses were the same eh?
I've had a Gobi on my commuter for the last couple of years, love it, (second-hand from an MTB forum, too expensive new IMO).
I'm changing the bike but keeping the saddle in case I don't get on with the Ti Swift that's going on the Brooklyn.

Brooks Swallow - low profile and quick to break in IMHO.
+1 -Love the Brooks -once broken in they are great

Anybody familiar with this curio?

+1 for Brooks Team Professional.
However, the comfiest saddle I own is an old plastic-padded no-name thing.
Q: Are Charge Spoons durable? Seem to remember reading that they don't last very long...

compare to Brooks, nothing outlive it!
they're quite durable, how durable you're thinking of? couple years?

Thanks Ed. Yeah, 2 years is bordering on the acceptable.

I've got a number of friends who really rate Fizik Gobi saddles, although given the cost differential and the comfort of the Charge Spoon, you've got to REALLY want the Gobi.

if your jeans are getting knackered all the time buy the new generation of jeans with lycra in them... like uniqlo or cheap monday... they solve the crotch rip problem it seems.
saddle wise...
arione for comfort... but in all honesty i dont like the look of them on a fixed
Turbo is comfortable and looks good... but hard to source a good one (mmm white)
san marco concor- but the modern designs arent a patch on the simple old ones (sod big graphics)
Kashimax 5 gold... can your ass handle it? (iv got the 4p and now my ass is as hard as nails)
anyone tried those grunge saddles from Tokyo Fixed? other than the graphic they look good for the money and you wouldnt have to be to precious about them...

depends how much u ride. when i was a fakenger a rolls did me fine, since becoming a messenger i started using a selle italia split gel flow flite and i couldnt recommend it because the exposed stitching has ripped through 3 pairs of trousers and is wearing me thin down below if you know what i mean...
I was starting to think it was me. Ever since I crashed my ride and replaced the seat, stem and bars, I haven't been able to get comfy...and that was last Summer. I bought a few cheay saddles and eventually splashed out on a Brooks Flyer. It's ok but the problem persists. Anyone got any suggestions? My rear is pretty ample but I never need a fat-boy seat before. Is there any mathematical trickery to help me make sure my angles are all correct or do I just need to keep wasting money on seats that hurt. PLEASE HELP!!

Brooks! I got a titanium b17 and it is so comfy.
Those fizik saddles that go up at the back are pretty nice though, if you're not gonna go for a brooks.
But do go for a brooks. Best 60 quid i've spent, especially as they're meant to be 160.

Thought i'd drag this up as i've had a feverish saddle-testing blitz over the last week. Obviously, this is subjective, but thought i'd share my findings whilst i was trying to improve on the comfort of my Charge spoon:
1.) Selle Italia SLR XP:
Hard to dial in and ok when set up, but too much gooch pressure for me2.) Specialized Alias (143):
Fucking gash and looks like shit as well.3.) Fizik Arione:
Quite comfy and easy to set up, but again too much perinium pummelling.4.) Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow
Not bad... Looks sweet, good build quality and feels good for the first 20miles.5.) Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow
Sold... Like a buxom wench lapping at my undercarriage. -

^ missed opportunity to say "gooch".

5.) Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow
Sold... Like a buxom wench lapping at my undercarriage.I'd be interested to hear how you get on with this.
I'm after a new saddle for my utility bike.I would like a cut-out, and something that is good for both road (not too soft) and trail (OK a bit soft) use. I am setting the bike up to function (to a degree) as a short distance tourer so long term comfort would be nice too.
As far as I can tell without testing the 'Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow', might be a good choice.

Haven't been on a loooooong ride yet, but it ticks the boxes you mention. Everyone's bum-bum is different innit, so try one out first if you can.
You're welcome to give mine a spin round the block if you're in London.

Broker, have you tried a Spesh toupe. I like them best mates with your gooch.
My gooch got a pummelling on my Rolls the other day. Need to revist that saddle choice.
-
• #124
Passed on giving it a test - Assumed it would annihilate my sit bones like the alias.
-
• #125
I think the Alias is the same shape as the Toupe just with some padding added. So it's probably not a good choice.
I'm with Hippy on the SLR XP. I also use a Rolls. Very different, but both bloody comfy.
