  • sounds good! if you're going via south bham you'll probably pass my house or somewhere near it can i meet you on the way? I'd be going back on myself to meet at moseley, but yeah up for this.

  • we'll almost certainly head out via kings heath, springfield, earlswood - along the alcester road. again - latecomers will not be accommodated.

springfield?! near sparkhill? do you mean hall green or shirley? we can make arrangements closer to the time.

can I say one thing, the first fix up ride got a bit silly because a whole bunch of people got left behind (for riding slower) and the competitive ones at the front were completely unaware and this huge gap happened which i didnt think was cool at all.

I was in the middle, not riding with the competitive folk and not with the slower peeps either. if something had happened (from a puncture to a crash) to the slower riders or myself, no one would have known as there no occassional slow downs or anything.

So dont wanna jinx this one but lets look out for each other and ride as a group. all im saying is, lets ride not race.

  • If it helps, I may be able to get my hands on a few radios.

  • radios sound like fun. perhaps we could all stay together until henley in arden or somewhere around half-way, ish, then split according to those who want to go fast and those who don't? all meet up in a pub/the park later?

the springfield i'm on about is after the maypole, on the way to earlswood. at least i think that's what it's called.

now, this thread seems to have gone off-track. As only a few people have shown some interest and the discussion of dates didn't even get going, i'm going to name one

**sunday 8th march - meet in moseley 1pm. Ride to stratford. **

pubs are there for those that want. Trains depart there too. This will go ahead unless it's actually raining. We will be departing **15 minutes **after. If you're late, you'd better also be fast enough to catch up.

Not too fast, not too slow.

    Any takers?

  • I might put a back brake on and freewheel it.

  • Yes! I'm totally up for this, List going?

  • Its really far to go while its still cold (yes im a pussy)

But ill provisionally say yes. (pending a distance worth bike to be put together)

  • man its a piece of piss, trust me.

if you can ride 2 miles, you can ride 50 miles without much difficulty.

you might think i'm fit because i ride everyday, but i get out of breath if i walk up too many stairs, or if i pump my tyres up. i dont regularly ride more than 3 miles in one go, but did about 50 miles when i went out with dan, and felt fine afterwards.

if youre worried, go on a longish fastish ride every 2 or 3 days to prepare.

  • bump.

Are people still down with this ride to stratford, grip train back mallarky?

    I think I am down.

Reckon if the weather is nice it could be a bumper day.

we (probably i) need to come up with a route. i'm fairly familiar with lots of the roads out of town in that area, but we (i) need to come up with a nice, non a34, route. does anyone have some navigational gubbins by any chance?

  • Yep, well a little, I live out in the sticks that way.

If you get to hockley heath there is plenty of lanes from there on to stratford

googlemaps.co.uk, you can set to walking then drag the route around to suit your needs, its pretty good.

p.s. you'll be going past me no doubt so i'll join you on route.

  • Sweet.

Hoi, just a suggestion - instead of copying and pasting a list, why not add a poll to the thread (only the thread starter can do this), have 'yes' and 'no' as the questions, and set the options to 'keep votes public' (as opposed to 'keep votes private'. then all you have to do is click 'view poll results' and you can see who's said yes they're gonna turn up, and who's said no...

  • this is an incredibly good idea.
    I just like making lists.

  • The poll function has been disabled for some reason.
