I'm with murtle and pifko - Dura Ace cranks are just fucking ugly.

If you've got 800 notes burning a whole in your pocket the BB30 Zipp is pretty slick looking.
Personally i like the classic look.

DA track chainsets are da shizz, the new DA road chainset is also very nice in the flesh
Shitty Campag with it's shitty square taper luddite attitude.

Indeed kerley.
@dovoneil - what's wrong with square tapers anyway? And no marketing bollocks in your answer.

Flex.

i dont know how you can say its ugly, i love how smooth it is and the two tone. it does look a bit like a car alloy wheel.
im really bored of seeing the same old retro cranks and C Record lookalikes. i find the sugino really plain and boring to look at. thier all good cranks but aesteically dull when they seem to be everywhere.
as much as i like vintage track bikes, ive found myself veering away and being more interested in modern stuff.

I don't like the new DA crank.. but most of the previous versions are better than Campag's option.
Mmmm.. DA -

Flex.
I use square taper and don't notice any flex. What is actually going to flex, can't see the axle bending?
Maybe I am just not as fat as you :-)

The most beautiful ever, was the TA Tevano chainset.
Basically a copy of old style Campag, but better. Havn't seen one in years.in what way better? aesthetically or practically?

I owned a fixed wheel that had a Sugino Maxi road crank on it, and road it everyday, rain or shine, for years with not one problem. It was the quintessential cheap crank, and performed admirably.

Got to admit that I really like the Shimano hollowtech II road cranks with the smooth drive side and integrated crank/spider.
As far as stiffness, for waht it's worth, I changed from an Ultegra octalink to an Ultegra HTII on the same bike, same drivetrain, etc, and the reduction in crank flex was instantly noticeable, so yes, I'm a big fan of integrated cranks. YMMV.

Flex.
Are you really so strong that you can flex a square taper bottom bracket axle? If so you should call this fella:

Then you use a period/classic square taper crank. The post was in response to dovoneil stating that Campag were still using square taper.

Agreed, or maybe call the power lifting guys. Could be frame flex that is causing the feeling as a frame can certainly flex. I changed from steel to alu recently and the lack of flex now is very apparent when springing up hills, pulling away etc,. (not saying it is faster, it just feels more solid)
