I assumed the King headset is not temporary? it look a bit unusual on that frame I must says, a classic Merican with a bold American headset on it.
^Murdered out Chris King with black logos... IMO.
How to fuck up a Mercian.....
I've said before that this build is a mish mash of parts. I haven't tried to build something strictly English, American, Japanese, street, track. Iv'e just put together parts that i really like and think will make a great bike. I personally think that the parts look great together, and are going to make for an awesome bike - anyway, i'm the one who's gonna be riding it!
Pistanator, u seem like a bit of a cock. -

Only a week and a bit to go to this so thought I'd lay it down for those who haven't seen it.
If you want to add your name to the list just click on thread and do so. Look forward to seeing you all on the rides to beers
http://www.londonfgss.com/thread15291.htmlNew Members Compass Beer Rides: 7pm Departure Trafalgar Sq
Things we do well on this forum, organise and go on a regular basis to Drinks, wherever they may be, and Ride.
So in the spirit of these two elements, comes the all new,
New Members Compass Beer Rides. It has been noted that meeting up with a big group of forumengers that you don't know in a pub can be slightly intimidating. So to make it less so, this idea has been put forward to combine drinks and rides.
Think of it as a Forum Fresher's week, without the hazing, so that the previous months new members get a chance to meet up with, and ride with fellow forumengers. Talk bikes, find out where drinks are, and get a good ride in at the same time
You can come out to the beers closest to you, or trek out to a beers on the otherside of town, safe in the knowledge that you'll be with people who a) know where they are going, and that b) someone will be heading back in your general direction so you can ride home in the company of another forumenger. So For One Week, every couple of months, there will be rides from Trafalgar Sq, to the Beers,
**Monday - Souths @ The Coach and Horses
Tuesday - Norths @ The Flask or
Tuesday - South Easts @ The Kings Arms or
Tuesday - Trixie Dix @ **White's Row Car Park Roof. White's Row, Off Commercial Street
Wednesday - Easts @ The Royal Inn on the Park
Thursday - Wests @ The Crabtree or The Ship (season dependent)
Sunday - Polo @ Brick Lane Polo Courts.A couple of regulars from each beers will be at Trafalgar Sq from approx 6.30 for a prompt 7pm departure, (1pm for a 1.30pm departure on Sunday) And will take any new member who so wishes for a ride which will arrive at beers/polo.
The first Compass Beer Rides will be
Feb 16-23 2009.with provisional dates for the following being
Apr 6-12
Jun 8-14.So New Members start here, come down to the ride to the beers, introduce yourself to other new and regular members, get a good ride into a beers, enjoy a soothing alcoholic beverage in the soothing presence of your new found bike friends and get a warm and fuzzy feeling at being welcomed into the collective forum bosom.
Ps.
The meeting up and departure time could be bought forward by half an hour if enough people want to meet and leave earlier. That is all...

Fiddy the new project looks bloody great! I love those pinarello frames.
Forms - dude your frame is one of the nicest Mercians I have seen yet. Fuck all the negativity.

Brick Lane polo is pretty sketchy at the moment. I'm sure it'll pick back up with better weather.

Cheers bro! Been trying to put this bike together for about 6 months now, maybe more. Just a little down-heartening when people jump in with negativity before it's even off the ground. I understand though, everyone's got an opinion, and are entitled to make them clear. Like i said, cheers, it means a lot! :)

Finally got my frame from Mercian. Still in the early stages of the build, waiting for a few final things before i put it together properly.
Really pleased with the frame. Mercian put 631 stickers on the frame and fork, which i'd asked them not to do, was a bit annoyed... but they've grown on me a bit now.Holy jesus and a turd sandwich, how tall are you???

Poor Woodrup :(

• #5489
You must be talking about the saddle height right? Well, if you are, the seat post is almost balancing on top of the bike and is no where near where it's supposed to be. Was just seeing how the saddle and post would look with the bike.
If your talking bout the frame; 597mm seat tube, 572mm top tube - I'm 6'3". -

Just wanted to show off my current project.
Bought this Woodrup frame a couple of months ago and I've just got around to spraying it. I spent ages sanding and filing it down, removing the unwanted lumps and bumps as well as the paint. Primer, then topcoat. The clearcoat goes on this weekend.
Can anyone help me with the age/name? All I know is that it's a Woodrup frame (Reynolds 531 steel).
You didn't mask up the bottom bracket threads did you? Good luck with that.

Looks nice in the flesh, lovely paint jobs, but please, burn that awful bar tape. :-)

fiddy - I've got the same seatpost on my pub bike - your standards are slipping!
-
• #5496
Au contraire, it just shows you have a superior pub bike with a rare aero carbon seatpost which is 65 grams lighter than the average and has .0003% less drag coefficient. Now shut it or I won't give you my derailleur!

Finally finished, and i'm prepared to ride in almost any conditions just to get out on it.
Thanks to everyone on here who helped with bits and advice.
dmczone- frame (well worth the wait)
el nino nando - on-one wheels
snoops - atacs which I am bloody loving
catboy - brake leveronly changes i'm planning are; silver campag aero seatpost, lighter wheels for summer, dust caps for cranks.

can't work out whether that's sarcastic because the pics are massive (i'm not good with technology) or the pics really aren't there.
I can see them.

You're right bar tape is AWFUL, but I got impatient, will be rectified soon to Fizik white.
