  • looks abso-bloody-lutely gorgeous!

  • yep, i love it. grey and cream with gold, who'd have thought? looks brilliant. is it being rebuilt with the same kit as before? nice one.

  • Going to be as true to age as possible... 27" wheels rather than the 700's before, have already been sifting through ebay, will take me a while I reckon :)

    Any suggestions welcome!

  • Ab-so-lute-ly drop-dead!!! :O :D
We must get all the, ahem, old bikes together and organise a vintage ride sometime!
PS SJS Do some nice Weinmann low profile 27" rims and then get some vintage Campag Pista hubs off Keith and Jos and then pick up some gum-walled Panaracer Paselas and then you're practically there! ;]

  • The frame is looking good man. Where did you get the seatpost tube replaced? I have a dent in mine and want it sorted. Is it standard issue to take a dented frame you want fixed to a frame builder or is there somewhere else that can fix it?

  • boootiful! looks absolutely gorgeous...I also love the headtube badge.
envy. what size is s/he, out of interest?

It's our size Stelle. I'll distract him and you can pinch it?

    Lovely joBobob.

  • Thanks Joe, i'll start saving!!!!

Tigeruppercut - It was sent to witcomb I believe by Mario Vaz (vaz cycle finishes), i'm sure you can go direct though, I had the whole tube replaced as it was cracked, Mario filled the other holes in the top tube before he sprayed it.

Thanks coppithat, I found those too earlier, prob is they are 1980's so although nice, are not in keeping with the frames age.

Snowy, i've got my eye on you ;)

  • I think right now any 27¨wheel is going to be suitable, even if they're build in the 1980, just removed the sticker, polish it up a bit and no one can tell if it is from the 1980.

  • Very nice.

i agree. and them being 1 inch rather than 1 ¼ coupled with the right tyres will give you an even cleaner look....... crykes, why don't i buy them!

  • utterly gorgeous!

  • Thanks Fred, oh the frame... sorry ;)

  • Wow, speedy turnaround.. Vaz is quicker than I thought! Frame looks spiffing Toby

  • came out noice, boobies!

  • holy moly
i have never agreed with re spraying frames as it kind of kills the authenticity
it's like getting a 1950's bugatti and taking it down your local garage and asking for them to put a layer or two of bmw red on
that frame however looks as nice a re spray as i have ever seen
    brilliant job bobob
time for m to dig out my allins and give it the beans !

  • Mario didn't like the colour I chose at first but changed his mind once it was finished :)

The original paint job had to go, it was awful, plus, having the seat tube replaced meant I had no choice.

Thanks Danglybits/ASM, am chuffed... not sure GF is happy with it in the living room though... women!! :-)

  • And he's back!

Overall, i'm very pleased, £60 for the repair work and £100 for the new paint, stripes, filling of the odd dent here and there, original 50/60's decals and gold luglining then lacquer..

It's not perfect though, one of the transfers is slightly wrinkled and the other not straight, some luglining has kind of bubbled up a little and I have found the odd bit of dirt/grease behind he laquer.... but overall I'd say for £100 it's pretty damned good... plus Mario really is a nice little chap :)

    Next step.... bits!!!!

that looks gorgeous, well worth repairing that badboy

  • :o....

  • Only just seen this, for some reason I was ignoring the thread. Good work BoBoB, I love the decals.

Wheels .. 'Course, you should really just put tubs on it.

  • Very gorg :D

  • Part finished pic... titan adjustable track stem and 50's bar's and beautiful classic stronglight chainset currently being re-plated as I type :)

Give it a few weeks and it'll be finished

  • man I been looking for that Titan stem for age! where did you find it? I got the non-adjustable one (Avion)

  • Mwwwahahahahaaaa... me too, have had it on my eBay search radar for months, one popped up, I emailed him and shazam.... it's in great condition but I want it all perfect so have sent it off for a nice shiny re-chrome :)

I think you bought that avione the other day on ebay, didn't you? It came up on my search!

  • yeah I did, need a rechrome more than your did! either way it going to hold a classic sweeped bar instead of a drop thought, riser would look incredibly stupid on it!

Is that a clincher or tubular rims?
