ok, but, she's used a longer (0.5s?) shutter speed and water to achieve the same effect of subject in focus + background bokeh. So there goes your argument.
movement creating blur is not the same as out of focus. a photographer who can't differentiate between the two needs to find another hobby.
my original point still stands. -

my original point still stands.to a photographer, to the casual observer / punter...it's similar, you know, blurry.

Any recommendations on products for calibrating monitor/printer, would be greatly appreciated.
the gretag eye-one display 2 is good value for calibrating monitors, the colour munki thingy is meant to be good and i think it can be used with a printer?
because i only use one kind of paper i pay for a profile (about £20) you just print out the test chart and send it off for a profile to be created for your printer/paper. -

as I said earlier, order prints from photobox, they usually send out a calibration print with your first order (looks like a TV test card), they have the same image on the website, so you can compare the two as you twiddle your monitiors knobs!...
It's a few years since I did this, so worth checking if they still do this....
Sorry but I would be inclined to diagree, the quality of their prints are far inferior to "The Printspace", The printspace is where its at, best quality photographic prints out there in my opinion and a selection of top notch papers, combined with one of the best c-type printers money can buy means: printspace>>>>photobox

Printspace actually regularly create profiles for all of their papers and printers, that you can use with decent calibrated monitors also, profiles can usually be downloaded of their site.

movement creating blur
A great effect when the object is moving (panning) but hard to do effectively. Works well with cyclists and off-camera flash adds to the effect.

Today I bought an axe with a 6lb head, makes me feel the same way, think I might have more success though.
what's that for, kindling?
Unprecedented global recession headed our way, you're going to need an axe.

I have always considered myself fairly zeitgeisty (is that a word) ? ;P
We will know when the shit has really hit the fan when the tree surgeon is working on humans.

Today, I became the owner of a Canon 5D MkII ! :)
It's still in the box as I have no way as yet to mount Nikon lenses on it, but I am working on that.

lol yeah fair enough, live view though??? really isnt that a tool for macro work and amateurs.

not at all i used it the other day as i was out on my own shooting some architecture so didn't shoot tethered to a laptop but just zoomed in 10x to check focus (manual focus tilt/shift lenses) the screen on the 5dII is fantastic even in bright sun and live view means the mirror is already up which is how i shoot anyway. it's no gimmick

at least it's better than the old screen that have a slight green tint, didn't really bother me that much luckily since I tend not to use the screen (turn it off, and only have 1GB card in it for 50 shots, easiest for me).

No list, just incessant daily checking with a few shops down Tottenham court road, I think I wore them out, they cracked in the end and gave me one just to get rid of me.
I paid a couple of hundred quid more than you though :(
They are so rare at the moment that the shop where I grabbed mine had one put aside for a bloke who was coming over from Germany to get his !

I like to get involved with as many lists as I can, I recently signed up for a hysterectomy.
Roger that, I won a magazine photo comp with a Kodak DC215 1mp camera.
