  • cheers Davey pants, good to know

  • I would also say it takes beautiful photographs, but we all know that's the photographer's job :p

  • i can put film on a canister, or at least, i could do 4-5 years ago! The dark room isn't too much of a problem - scary basement ftw! Once you make up the chemicals, do they keep or have you gotta chuck them?

Anybody else got an opinion on replacing my stock zoom lens with a prime lens?

Rather than blanking out a whole room just use a changing bag. They only bit you need in pitch black is loading the film into the canister, after that you can do it all in a light room.

Black and white chemicals keep for absolutely ages, like a few years. As for colour thats the other end of the scale and they won't last long at all. Your probably best to keep all your film then once your ready to develop it do it all in a day.

Black and white processing is a great experience and really good fun. I've never bothered with C41 you can get it done quite cheap if you have no prints, then scan at home.
Another reason for never doing C41 at home is the fact you have to be really spot on with the temperature of the chemicals, if you are out at all you can end up with some horid colour casts.

  • Yea i've got about 10 colour films that need developing. My housemate has a film scanner so i just want them developing. Was figuring it might be cheaper / more fun to buy the kit 2nd hand than pay 60-70 quid to have them developed?

  • Try it mate by all means! Just make sure you burn thought a crap roll first as a tester, just so you don't ruin any of the important stuff!

  • thats the other thing, its not really important stuff! I got a Lomo LC-A carried it roudn with me for a few months and took random photos. Not something i want to spend a load of cash on!

If it's not a slide film, that would cost you £10-20 without prints in some strange place like ASDA.

  • really? Everywhere i've been has said 6-8 squid a film

  • Really? I paid that much for medium format in Walthamstow (film only).
I'm gonna ask tomorrow in ASDA, as I have two rolls from last week. If it's really that expensive now, then I'd do it myself. I'm not too keen on chemistry at home with a toddler around.

  • just found this http://www.photofusion.org/filmprocessing/processing.htm just down the road from me. Not cheap as chips but not bad!

  • If It's just C41 anywhere should be able to do it cheap shouldn't they?

  • you would be suprised how expensive it is!
