  • getting your excuses for the rollas in early eh Desi?

  • still want to go tonight's rolla. knee's hurting now, but ill see how i feel this afternoon.

  • maybe see you tonight then fella - I'll bring that scan with me as well

  • yep twas like an ice rink outside my house this morning. when the rear wheel span as i pulled away at a cruise with my full weight on the saddle i thought "hmmm, better take it easy here". stayed off the brake and cornered like an old lady till i got onto the salted main roads (mine is unsalted and the one after that is dry roasted).

also, am i alone in finding the title of this thread annoying? it's the "people" bit. it started with the "bells people, use them" thread and now this one. i resisted mentioning it before but it really annoys me. something about the "people" bit makes it sound like the author is trying to sound american and sort of sergent majorly/fatherly. as if we're all his people. as in "okay people, take care out there. by the left quiiiick march!" etc. i dunno. it just irritates me. sorry ved.

  • I liked the previous comment by someone (can't be arsed to find it) saying that it is more slippery *inside *people than outside people, which made two interesting points!

  • Watch wandsworth in the monings at the moment. I cased it hard this morning between wandsworth and putney on the ice. I was doing sick wheel spins all the way up Putney hill.

  • Lurker, bad luck mate, my brother did it last year and lost the tip of his finger. Bet u wont do it again in a hurry?

Wow, thats quite touchy dooks. If it irritates you that much just hit ignore.

  • not entirely serious here dude. guess i was hoping for some discussion on thread title syntax based on my exageratedly grumpy rant. not really fussed though. sorry if you felt got at. ignore me.

lunch people, i'm going for it now.

  • thread title syntax..WTF?..I fell quite hard off my bike 20 mins before typing that, gimme a break...

  • 11am and still ice lurking in the shadows and traffic-lite areas. Got me this morning on a slow-left hander. Suddenly no rear wheel. Went from the vertical to horizontal very quickly: at least when you come off at speed you hit the ground at more of an angle, and usually are lower to the ground when the tyre lets go. Now I now how pro-wrestlers feel

  • Now come on, despite being a but shook up from a fall, you should have still had the nuance to stick in a comma between 'outside' and 'people'.

    :0)

methinks it's just the way you read it, you read it in a very annoying sergent/majorly/fatherly tones, whether I read it as a friendly* 'hey mate, be careful out there, I almost came a cropper today*' tones, it easy to read it differently online.

  • @sam
    'nous', not 'nuance'.

    @ Sam - ha! Done!

  • 'Nous' is one of the those words I have used and can use without thinking, but now I look at it on the page, I struggle to remember how to pronounce the bugger

  • i wonder if the "!" is really required?
This could shock and upset some of the more senstive people on this forum.
Maybe just title the thread "Hipster Skids FTW LOL" and be done with it?

Nous - its what you hang yourself with

    "Nowse".

  • blimey, alright people! i wasn't being serious. i was just saying, the use of "people" in that context reminds me of apone in aliens and noting a proliferation (alright two) thread titles to use the style recently.

it doesn't bother so much as mildly niggle/amuse. i'm genuinely sorry you fell off. and i'm even sorrier that you thought posting a flippant comment about your thread title several days and 5 pages later was intended as an callous attack on a recently fallen brother.

    sorry people, i'm very it.

  • just re-read my original post and to be fair it comes across a lot more harsh than the spirit in which was intended.

  • It always reminds me of this

"let's be careful out there peopleā€¦"

  • Haven't spotted too many of those Unipack cycles since it got cold, wonder why?

  • @sam
    'nous', not 'nuance'.

    Neg rep me.

  • Funnily enough I saw one this morning and one the other night. Right pieces of shit they are too. I must say though that the cold does not appear to have deterred too many people. Its the rain that does that. Also, the standard of driving has improved somewhat now that the drivers are used to driving in the dark again. Thats been my experience over the last few weeks anyhow
