Some kind person put an invite to the bridges ride and a link to this site in my pedals on Friday, couldn't make the ride, but am now a newbie, want some advice on handle bars.
I've done a search on this site, but want more advice on different types of bars as there seems to be a multitude of them on offer and I'm bewildered... doesn't take much tho tbh ;) as an ex-mb-er used to straight-ish bars.
Had my fg about 2 months now, got standard drops as bought off guy who used any old parts to make it run... hate them with a passion, make my hands ache, feel like i'm sat too upright if on the v small flat area, and awkward on the slopes and can't deal with the drops at all. Rubbish to pull on etc etc
Any ideas?

@Deluka
I'd call bullhorns most comfortable IMO,
like the kind you get on a charge plug,
and i would suggest them for you since your not liking the upright position.Other than that you could just get some MTB risers.
Lotsa variations of different handlebars, you just need to try them out and see what your most comfortable with.

Well to a newbie, like myself, you come across like you represent the whole forum/community.
For what it's worth: I think you've come over as a bit of a cunt.
Labia maybe..
Stop trying to pick a fight - hippy's one of the good guys. You might have known that before some dull whiney cunt's protests led to rep-abolition. -

How do I do that without spending a packet? Do u know of a good shop which would be willing for me to trial some?
There seem to be many variants and shapes/ different angled bullhorns/ pursuits/ drops. How do I find out about the facts to this shizzle?
Like the nitto bullhorns, there seem to be at least 3 variants of similar shape. Arghhh. I don't do too many choices

Sorry couldn't resist. ha!
Bullhorns or riser bars or flat bars (with barends?) Have a look through the names/faces to bikes thread for ideas. It is an individual preference as anyone who has a couple of failed experiments hanging from the wall will tell you. Width should be about your shoulders, though narrower is popular. (http://www.londonfgss.com/thread3370.html)haha indeed :) There is much trolling of newbies, i seem to have come off lightly so far...
I have seen many v narrow bars, the guys riding them seem to think they look cool, not honestly that bothered as long as I can nip thru traffic easy enuf.
There seems to be a backlash against risers amongst many on this site, made for amusing reading at least, opinion on bullhorns/ pursuits seems divided. Seems like a darned expensive way of finding a comfy riding position.
Anyone selling fairly narrow [i am a med size woman] bullhorns/ risers/ flats/ noodle nittos/ etc for me to try out? My current drops are a 42

If you're looking for something to pull on I'd be tempted to say risers.
But if you want something that doesn't force you in to too much of an upright position I'd say go for the bullhorns as you have the benefits of a flat bar but at the same time using the horns would put you in a much lower position than risers would.
Saying that the pursuit bars (last pic) give you a plethora of positions. The best thing you can do is ask pop down to one of the drinks, meet some peeps and ask around and take a look and if you ask really nicely someone might let you have try riding different styles. You can be shown pictures and opinions forever but with out tryin first hand you won't know what really suits you. Search the classifieds and see if you can pick up a selection on the cheap.
Hope this is helpful.

Well Deluka, you could always chop your drops,
but i wouldn't recommend it if your not 100% sure.I cut my drops down by accident (was drunk..what a night) because i wanted to try bullhorns,
ended up loving the comfort and control i got from them,
even though the cuts are so messy. But don't judge unless you try.

Platini, consider yourself repped.
Oh dear Clive, I think you've just upset 'Adrian'.
"Repping for wit? I won't stand for it. It's just not fair, because... because...
It's just NOT FAIR I tell you!"

Like I said, this forum is run by ONE guy, the same guy who implemented this "regime", so unless he takes an interest in your plight.. none of us give a rats because we don't have anything to do with it.
I suggest you take your issues up with administration.
