  • convert it into what?

Well, just putting some nicers wheels and a chain on it and it'll be good to go

  • convert it into what?

Track to road conversons. It's the way forward for the deserning hippster!

  • Whats up with your posting Chan??? wtf!

    !

Fuck knows, seems to have sorted it's self out now though. How odd.

Oh alright, lap it up. I should of said "restore" not convert :)

  • yep v similar affair to lots i bet,

baselayer... merino... normal shit... (t-shirt,armwarmers sometimes) and a decent windy (goretex) i have a packlite berghaus jobby does the trick.

  • found it...

  • FFTW

  • The softshell is relatively good for a Rapha product. Elements are poorly finished e.g. stitching, esp round the sleeve / glove 'inners' stitched into them. (I find stitching to be a weak spot with quite a bit of Rapha stuff) But overall the materials and more importantly the cut make it a very good jacket. I like Goretex XCR for snowboard / mountain jackets but don't think this fabric would work for close fitting cycling stuff.

Even with your levels of wealth, ~£230 is a lot to drop for a jacket but the softshell beats Assos stuff in that - at a push - you could actually wear it off the bike.

  • Assos Fugu for me. Worth every penny...

  • Fugu too!

Wouldn't be seen off the bike in Assos gear. Rapha? Maybe.

  • Tart! ;)

  • I wouldn't want to risk the fag burns TBH...

  • Assos gator jacket. A little too toasty for this time of year. And one looks like a euroraver off the bike.
Have a Descente shell thing I got cheapish from wiggle. Fits in a jersey pocket and keeps the wind out (and SOME of the rain).
Need some sort of inbetween thing...
Fancy one of those swrve hoodies for commuting but for winter training (shivers run down my spine) it looks pretty useless.

  • Assos 851 fits that bill - the in-between one that is...

  • Windtex £30 job (might be Nico sport) did me through the snow at easter. Bit warm at the moment though. Need something waterproof and not as warm.

  • i believe skully has these!

  • Rapha softshell leaks badly round the arm where the Rapha logo is. Oh, the irony.

  • dale where do you get these images? most worrying was the boy in the squirrel suit...

  • oh, you know, he just found it.

he point you at some more, but the police have impounded his hard drive

  • I'm still loving my Swrve softshell millwalkee hoodie, best winter bike jacket i've ever bought - wear it all the time off the bike as well.

Corny was wearing his new black one at south beers last night, absolutely bloody lovely... Decided I'm getting one, it's black after all... The back of the material felt less fleecy than yours and more like my Gore one... Go figure... Whoulda thunk? Etc. Etc.

  • £270 for the Castelli? Bargain
Rapha has done a tweed version of their softshell that will retail for £400

Its actually a rather lovely prince of wales check. It barely looks like a cycling jacket - I was admiring the test garment being worn by one of the Rapha crew at the BFF.

The price is a little high - but talking to them it is almost a stealth technical jacket - the cloth is bonded to some breathable membrane etc etc. Traditional tweeds feature colours such as heather etc as it was the original dpm, the colours of the weave used for this jacket are inspired by the urban environment.

Berghaus did it a couple of years ago....

  • RAPHA: they're nice, yes. They're expensive - hell yes. They are also Limited to 100.
Man i wish Rapha would do a more female version. (even tho i fit the mens, ladies options would be nice!)
