it will be made before then mashton. for sure. i will be in radio contact with clintsmoker as the evening starts.
if it is filthy out there then ride cancelled as it just won't be much fun. if it's just a little wet then it is on.
-
• #53
it's filthy right now - just got soaked walking over to the canteen with cornelius. brrr.
-
• #54
tell me about it dude. still holding off for a break in the weather to go grab a bite.
if it's filthy later the ride will be off.

have a good one guys the weather is the perfect excuse i need to sink a G in the pub instead of the ride... waterproof safe guys and gals.
-
• #56
had to send my lights off to manufacturer due to problems so I'm going to have to pass till next round
-
• #57
no worries gus - we'll be doing this one again for sure.
every two weeks there will be a ride - weather permitting of course. the last four tuesday night rides we have had the weather has been perfect. we are hoping that as winter sets in we will be getting those clear crisp nights riding under a blanket of stars. clintsmoker and i rode up to banbury last friday night and it was perfect - if a little cold. today is looking like a bit of a stinker but there is plenty of time for that to change.

In terms of lights, do I need a proper-doper setup? I was just going to use my standard cateye jobby.
-
• #60
i like where your thinking is going purple_mj, but that black stuff should always have a white top.
mashton, part of the idea of these rides was to get our moneys worth out of the good lights invested in for the this years DD. you will be fine with your regular cateye as a bunch of us have super duper strength lights and you can just follow in. if you were on your own dude you would want something a bit more powerful. -
• #61
it's looking slightly better out there...
bit vindy mind.
ah well... just leave Jonny on the front then yeah ? (u wanted some resistence training right) -
• #62
Okey dokes.

• #63
It seems that the wind is going to be from the WSW, which isn't the end of the world for a mainly Northerly ride. Not great though.

guys, just got off the blower with clintsmoker and agree with him that this one will be backburnered. windy out there with rain promising to come down in a few hours time. won't be fun or for that matter safe out there.
to reiterate - these rides are meant for those clear crisp winter nights and there will be plenty of them ahead.
sorry to those of you geared up - but i am sure you all know how to order a pint of the G and take it easy for the night. i am gonna clock up some urban miles instead - one way or another.
catch ya soon guys.
ride safe

hippy, get out of there dude - sounds like you're losing it big time.
purple_mj - glad this got you before you set off.
-
• #68
too bad, but understand the nature of the ride so see you soon

hippy, get out of there dude - sounds like you're losing it big time.
purple_mj - glad this got you before you set off.It was all looking rosy with the Cambersands ride.. now I find it's the same ol' junk.
If my cycling doesn't come up to par again, I'm leaving this place. -
• #70
Its a bit windy out there eh!?! I nearly got blown off my bike! when/whats the next ride taking place then? Same place different night?
-
• #71
stallionlegs - yeah you're right dude. fully the right decision to postpone this one. will happen - two weeks today. same ride same time same place. hopefully a nice night.

So if I'm following this correctly, next ride to Much Hadham is in a fortnight on Tues 14th October...in which case I'll be in! (albeit with the same lacunas as previously mentioned). Thanks Jonny and Clintsmoke. Lacunas. I'll say that again; lacunas.

• #74
just out of curiosity, whats in much hadham? grumpy old man local pub for local people?
-
• #75
From what I remember from the Cambridge ride there's a convenience store, post office and a no cycling sign. No doubt also a pub full of locals grumbling about outsiders flashing their cash on snickers and stamps then riding off.
What time is the weather based go / no go decision? I'll check the thread before leaving the house at 7:20ish...
