  • Looks like an incident with an articulated lorry and a cyclist in Holborn this morning at the corner of Bloomsbury Way/Theobald's Road and Southampton Row. A bicycle is under the wheels of the lorry that looks like was in the middle of a left hand turn.

I don't have any other details but my understanding is that they pronounced at the scene. Resquiat in pace.

  • :(

  • Saw that one too looked pretty bad..

  • shit!!

  • BBC news just says accident.

  • It's about 30 meters from my office. I was told they pronounced when I got here and asked the local caff owner who filled me in. I had a look and it is not nice.

  • nasty!

  • :( R.I.P.

Gotta ride that way to Condor as soon as i get to work.

  • That is horrible.

  • I passed it at 07:35 this morning. It was bad. I looked and looked to see if it was cyclist, though couldn't tell decisively, but from the postioning of where the lorry had stopped, I feared it possibly was a cyclist. Blue tarpulins covered the underside of both sides of the lorry, and the police wouldn't play ball, except to say, "Confirmed accident". Whatever joy I had in me, has left me completely. It was grim and sad. I've seen that sort of thing before, but it just gets more miserable each time.

    Ride safely.

  • Blue/white tarps- usually as bad as it gets...
    Very sad.
    R.I.P.

  • I know a lot of people who commute around there. its a real pit of the stomach sick feeling to think it could be one.
We will be double figures for lorry caused deaths soon.

    Its really, really sad.

  • I go through there most nights, it does get a bit hairy in places. Saying that i watched an idiot undertake a bendy bus that was pulling in last night, he was missed by literally inches.

  • Saw the police bans and the road block, must've turned off too soon to see the actual scence. My thoughts to all concerned (this seems to have been a very frequent occurance of late).

  • This is not good news.

  • They gotta sort this traffic out and give some decent riding education!!!!

  • This is very very bad news

  • Sheesh, just outside my work too. Which direction were they going - west or east?

    Ride safe people.

Unfortunately, it looks like a busy time for ghost bikes at present.

  • Decided to walk to work this morning and walked past this about 9.15. Never seen the aftermath of somrthing like this and never want to again, one of the most disturbing things ive seen in my life, a crushed bike and blood all over the road under the lorry. Horrible horrible. Ride safe out there!!

  • Been off the bike this week due to funeral monday and now having a cold, but some colleagues just came in telling me about this! Terrible, and yet another instance - if reports are correct - that it was a rider on the left getting run over! I really am thinking of creating a campaign to raise awareness... more gorrilla than official.

  • I'm thinking petition on no10 site to ban HGVs from central london...?

  • isn't that 3 in less then 2 weeks?

  • RIP

Gabes^ yes this is something worth doing. We need to get LCC and CTC involved.

When I suggested this a while back I was shot down in flames. I'm gather Paris has some kind of system where HGVs are only allowed at night... though I may have got this wrong....

    • 1 for Ghost bikes
    • many for the petition to reduce or control the routes where HGV can travel!
  • isn't that what Bill does?
