Medium Pace Group, leaving at 8.00am

I said I'd be happy leading a group on principle, I'm not sure I'm able to do these dates yet. We need a stompyenger as a backup.

So... what might the average speed of the medium group be (not including stopping time)? Not that there's a rule as such, but just so I don't end up with a load of EPO'd shaven legged superheroes, or for that matter, a load of fat bastards. Or likewise any of the poor sods stuck with me :-)

"EPO'd shaven legged superheroes" - that's my very own special group, how kind of you :)
Anyone in this group who p_nct_res is beaten to death with their own bike. -

By a seething furious David Millar? That would be cruel...
Nothing against shaven legs by the way, I'm just bitter cos I can't afford any performance enhancing drugs. And I'd need triple doses too.
-
• #62
I can afford them I just prefer performance decreasing drugs unfortunately.. ;)
-
• #63
They should have an extra category in races for that - Class A? Or does that already exist?

Rules me out then....

Harsh, but ultimately fair.
Look the groups are just a guide to help people enjoy the ride a bit more. The same lfgss principles apply, which is leave no-one behind. If you have any doubts at all, just go with the medium pace group.
-
• #66
The only trouble I can see with this idea is that the speed of the first two groups is going to be pushed up by the thought of a pursuit.
-
• #68
Can I 'lead' a group that's an ordinarily medium pace, but has to get off and walk if there's anything more than a 2% uphill slope? We could leave before dawn.
Absolute flakes group

@Greasy Slag - cheers for the kind offer
Where are the rides starting from in London? Hyde Park Corner? Brick Lane?
Put me down for whichever group I can get to after arriving into Kings Cross at 8am (so probably not the 8am group then)
How manic will Hillbilly's ride be? I'm fairly quick and confident but not sure about motorway riding!

Doesn't anyone round here ride a bike on a Sunday...
-
• #71
I absolutely have an ulterior motive for saying this because I'm away on August 2nd and this ride will be great, but I used to live in Brighton and on pride weekend it will be an absolute nightmare.
Worst case jump in a B&B/cheap caravan park and cycle back sunday
If anyone is thinking of booking B&Bs there then you'd better do it now!Dunwich is July 19th so why not Brighton the following weekend? Sat 26th July?
