GrandMarqui Actually there no fixed gear communauty in France, no one has a fixed gear.
That's what I thought about London, and I used to mostly hang out on the Chicago forum and was envious of their community.
My advice: Start a "fixed gear paris" forum using Vanilla software, and email all cycling blogs in Paris, and wait.
697 Parisians visited LondonFgSs.com in the last month. There is an audience and people there who are into it, all you need for a community is to give them a way to come together, and all you need for a tricks/polo scene is a community large enough so that the x% of people who want to do that make up enough numbers that it becomes supportable.
If you build it, they will come.

I saw a dude on a track bike in Paris. He was obviously just learning to ride fixed as he almost mowed a couple down on the pavement, blamed them and shouted 'Puta!'

Search and you will find. Jboule is the man to talk to in Paris, although he used to be a bit sticky.

I'm in Paris at the moment and yes, they're rare as rocking horse shit, still haven't seen one yet.
Saw a courier today on a dirty road bike with a spoke card in the back.
I have a friend who studies at ENSCI (school for industrial design bla bla) and he showed me that some guys there made some bikes for their coursework. built frames and everything themselves (apart from some components that aren't really worth the hassle CNC'ing). and a lot of them are actually fixed. there's definitely something going on here. -

I will be in Paris for a few days next week. Ok, I understand there aren't much fixed gear riders on the street but is there a really good road bike shop I should go? I ride road bike as well and have high expectations.

And so will we! I know the fixedgearlondon crew had a trip to paris last year, and me and turd furgurson are planning to head on over there at some point this spring, possibly to be in town around the time of the paris-roubaix, and we'll have our fixies with us.

there is a community indeed - small and growing.
the "hub" is http://www.pignonfixe.com as mentioned above. There is also a shop called Basement Bikes, at 100 rue de la folie méricourt. Plus a couple of other shops that have fixed stuff: Bycloune on Bd. Beaumarchais, Lucien Rue de l'acqueduc.
I saw 2 fixed gear bikes yesterday whilst riding through paris on mine...

Hello dudes,
We finished our first fixie. It's good, we sold it 550 euros. And now we're going to make two others, the one we sold was a Peugeot, and now we've got a Gitane and a Agostinho to built up with velocity rims and brooks stuff.
Actually we ain't got time to ride. But surely we'll ride Paris streets next holidays.
So far we'll ride we'll organise rendez-vous in Paris and we'd be pleased to contact fixed gear london to meet your communauty. Thanks & see ya soon
