  • "The eyeless Iraqi driver pulled for operating a motor vehicle without MOT, licence, insurance, or eyes"
    best sentence I've read today!

  • i love that fact he wore a bad mutherfukr t-shirt to court.

  • wow!!

  • aidan not having an optical drive is quite a risky step.....

But the remote drive over the n standard wifi is a very good step, I think.

If I had more than the £13 in my bank account that I currently have, I'd be pre-ordering right now. I think it's awesome.

The new iPod touch software is awesome too. No more jailbreaking. I'm seriously considering getting one (if I save the money over a few months) - I don't want to be on o2 since the iPhone tariffs are dreadful value for what I use my phone for, but the ipod touch now does everything the iphone does except phone. Calendar, email, google maps, ipod, wifi, youtube... As a uni student where wifi is available everywhere in campus it would be amazing. Boring lecture = watch youtube + facebook.

  • I really wondered what were they planning after they stopped to produce 12" laptops... they were so cute! Think the Macbook Air is the answer!

Think i gonna stop putting stickers on my current laptop and save the stickers to put on the new one!!!

  • Two words.

    Powerbook Duo.

  • User can't replace battery, or upgrade memory, both hard wired. In the picture above it looks ok. I'm kind of looking for an ultra portable. I was hoping for a smaller footprint device today. Personally I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. I'll reserve judgement until I see and use one in the flesh. Shame about the screen bezel though - if this were smaller, the footprint would be smaller. Not sure about the black keyboard either.

  • You sound like you need a Sony Vaio TZ... lighter, smaller, longer battery life, DVDRW, and everyone knows carbon fibre's way better than aluminium :D

  • Yeah I've looked at them, was waiting to see what Apple brought to the table.

  • i'm always very doubtful of sony products. anything i bought from sony has never managed to survive any longer than their warranty period which is 12 months. i once bought a portable minidisc player/recorder. it cost me 2200HKD (which was about 180quid at the time). over the 12 months i had to take it in to fix for more than 6 times. they hand over a bill everytime, listing costs in an itemised manner, only that you don't need to pay because it's under warranty. by the time my warranty is done i added them up. it's almost 1800HKD. from that point on, with all their proprietary formats and little bits that break or go wrong easily, i decided not to buy anything from sony and i have never since.

  • 4 walkmans 1 yr nuff said

  • Why not just get the Asus eee PC? I don't understand Apple fandom.

  • because they actually work?

i like starting fights with people who know a lot more then me about a subject. next week i fight Bruce Lee.

  • The eeePC has the power of a small rat. If you want to do more than write a text file in OpenOffice, you're pretty screwed. Plus it looks terrible compared to this!

Roberto £€$ I really wondered what were they planning after they stopped to produce 12" laptops... they were so cute! Think the Macbook Air is the answer!

Yeah, I wondered that too. I really liked my iBook, although I really like my MacBook now - it's just wider but a lot thinner, so overall it fits in most bags way better. I think I might take a trip to the Apple store this afternoon! I'm such an Apple geek 8-)

  • My Walkman is still going. It must be 15 years old. I don't like Vaios though, nor anything with memory stick, except SonyEric phones.

"I don't like the black keyboard", "it looks terrible in comparison" and people still try to argue they don't buy Macs at least partly because they LOOK cool? Like whatevah! Talk to the hand. Shiz and niz and stuff..

  • Oh and about the battery... $129, which for the UK probably means £129.

  • Check out this site Jason:
    UMPCs
They have a shit-hot comparison tool down the right-hand side, match off all the Tablets, UMPCs and MIDs you are interested in against each other in a pop-up table.
I have been using it to gather information on the ones my company will buy.
Plus there are more detailed data-sheets available too.
You might like the Kohjinsha range. They have an NJS stamp on the track-pad.

  • Just want to say i've experienced similar problems with sony products. I've had a few sony products break on me in the last few years. Sony used to be known for being great quality and long lasting, but I think that's no longer the case. Maybe it's just their low-end stuff like hand-held music players, etc.
It's like levi's jeans, my parents still have pairs from when they were my age but i doubt mine will last that long. It guess it doesn't make economic sense for levi's to sell me 1 pair that lasts 30 years, makes more sense to sell me 6 pairs every 5 years? So they don't make them to last as long. Planned obsolescence i suppose.

  • I've been waiting for this thing to come out for ages so that I can finally ditch my G4 PowerBook, looks like I'll be getting a MacBook Pro after all... The Air seems a bit pointless to me, which is odd, cuz I pretty much dig everything they come up with...

  • Don't like the way they have moved away from the simple-form design. The varying thickness of the base section is VERY PC to me.

  • the one thing i don't understand is why would you shell out the extra $1500 just to have a (smaller) solid state memry when it doesn't apparently affect the size/weight of the machine? other than that the air looks great, nice n small but without sacrificing the interface, and even though it has no internal cd/dvd drive, the external superdrive is cheap, and if you have wi-fi access to another computer, you can simply use that one! brilliant. too bad i just bought a new macbook... anyone have a dog that would sit on my computer? (sounds weird but that's how my last two went...)

  • Fuck that - it's all about the Macbook Nano

    On it.

I just don't get it. It's the same dimensions as the MB, aside from thickness, but who really cares about thickness? That is entirely asthetic and doesn't really make it any more "portable". I've never found myself in a situation where I wanted to bring my laptop but it was just 1/4" too thick so I was screwed...portability is in the width and depth. Also looks like Wall Street were not impressed, Apple’s share price went down by about 5 per cent yesterday.

  • it reminds me of the apple cube. it's the bling overly designed mac for people who want to pose but not do any work. those who want a fast machine to shoot 30mpixel cameras tethered and then batch process raw files on location (and burn dvd's and write to external drives) will stick with a macbook(pro)

it's a loss leader technology curio, some of the features will make it into the other laptops but i wouldn't be surprised if it is dropped after a couple of years.

it's still far nicer than any pc.
