what do people think of this for £175, a good first single speed bike?? worhty of putting time and money into a build???

Very nice 1980's Raleigh Explorer Road bike in bright metallic red in exceptional condition - hardly a mark!
Simple, quick and light (steel framed). Single speed so low maintenance. Runs perfectly. Loads of new parts -
New Tyres and inner tubes. Alloy wheels.
New Freewheel. New Track chain.
New Brake cable inner and outers. New brake pads.
Shimano 600 brake Levers and Calipers. New handlebar tape.
Super smooth crank and headset. Good saddle.
Frame is size 58cm

bit overpriced i reckon snoops - though hard to tell quality of frame from the photo. are they 27" wheels or 700cc?

I'd agree with jonny - £175 looks pricey especially as I think the frame is made from gas pipe tubing.

I'd spend £200 quid on a Scapin frame alone - they are a very highly regarded frame builder in Italy. With the other bits you have on it that's a snip at £200. The bits you don't use will sell on ebay so you'll recoup some of your money.

that raleigh's got that old type TA/stronglight cranks on steer clear away from them.
