  • The Substance easily best film of the year

    Counterpoint: Zone Of Interest

  • There's a restoration at the cinema? I did not know this, I just watched it on prime. Got to find me a screening of that now.

I have never watched the remake and I intend for that to stay that way until death.

  • Oooh, nice, looks like there's a showing near me toward the end of the month. Thanks!

  • I watched Gasoline Rainbow and it's such a good Sunday film.

It's a road trip movie which just scoops you up and takes you with it. It feels like it's the same vein as the Florida Project or Tangerine.

  • It feels like it's the same vein as the Florida Project or Tangerine.

    I'm in

  • Yes! Saw that randomly at LFF a few years ago and loved it. Felt like it really captured being 18 and the sense of freedom and fun and chaos at that age.

Wasn't sure it would get a wider release, but glad it did.

  • It didn't jump out at me, will have to watch again. Might need a while to get over that first viewing tho', not sure it's the kind of film you can watch too many times, not that much subtlety there.

  • It's by the same director as Bloody nose, empty pockets which I think you'd also love. It's a proper dive bar movie.

@Lebowski Exactly! It's nostalgic even though I didn't grow up in America, it captures teen friendship so well.

  • Watched "The 13th Warrior" on Sunday. Not sure why. By the standards of films in general, it's a low-budget silly bit of cheese. By the standards of films about vikings, it's the peak of historical accuracy, serious drama and cultural sensitivity.

  • Bloody nose, empty pockets

This was a fun one to watch in a pub.

  • It came out in 2020, I watched it to pretend I was in a pub. šŸ˜†

  • Someone had it as our film club pick.

  • I meant at the time I watched it, no pubs were open. It would have been better to watch it in a pub for sure, haha.

  • That sounds right up my street as well, I'll add it to the list. Thanks!

  • Pharrell Williams LEGO film was fun..

  • No blurred lines tho

  • very sanitised narrative, was indulgent but entertaining and Iā€™d say not a kids movie.

Piece by Piece is a largely factually accurate recounting of Pharrell's career in music, although there are some minor omissions. For the most part, Pharrell's story is reimagined through LEGO but with a certain sense of authenticity afforded by the number of artists who appear in interviews. However, some elements aren't as pronounced in the film. This includes Pharrell's earliest lessons in music, with many of his inital teachers left out of the story. Instead, the film sees Pharrell pick up drums and skip to taking music at school, where he met Neptunes co-founder Chad Hugo.

[Pharrell and Chad Hugo] are engaged in a lawsuit at the time of writing, a falling out that is not addressed in the film.

  • Watching The Fall Guy.

Expected light relief. But Jesus it's fucking hard going.

  • I think it would have been one to watch in the cinema.

Nice touch with the pickup though.

  • I enjoyed it (at the cinema)

  • Brilliant Powell and Pressburger films on iPlayer at the moment -

  • Took the kids to see The Snowman and The Snowman and the Snowdog at the cinema this morning. They loved them and the music really is good on the cinema sound system.

  • I fucking hate the snowman.

  • Is Gladiator II worth watching?
