I haven’t seen it.
But on a moral tip you should swerve it just because “who would think about using a mobile phone to defend themselves” -

Have been watching the scream films for no reason other than prime suggested the first and I was like “why not?” and now I’ve done the original trilogy. Haven’t seen since they all originally came out, can’t say that they’ve aged immensely well, but you’ve got to tip your hat to Wes for doing that Knowing Meta thing.
I’ve not watched any of scream 4 and above, but I guess that’s where I’m going now.

Blitz on Apple TV. Saoirse Ronan and Paul Weller (?! Actually quite decent). With appearances from Stephen Graham and Kathy Burke amongst others, not a bad little film from Steve McQueen although the industry standard Eastenders accent everyone employs is a little much . 6/10

Watched the 4k rescan of North by Northwest last night. Man it looked so fucking good.
I've watched it so many times but it's still great. Some lovely shots, great soundtrack, decent acting for the period though the drunk driving scene is still fucking hilarious. Would recommend.

Managed to convince my girlfriend that early Mel was good and had a successful viewing of Mad Max 2 over the weekend. A bit sad we didn't start with the first movie but even with the pt2 spoilers she's keen to give it a go now. Less convinced she'll like Lethal Weapon but still think the first 2 hold up. Impressive you have to go another 30 years after LW2 to find something i like from him (Dragged Across Concrete). TBF that's probably true of most the big hitters from the 80s, only two actually good movies they lead in.

Sleepy Hollow last night. Class.
Some cracking old guard English actors in there. Ricci is hilariously bad, though she was probably 15 so due a pass.

We watched Starve Acres last week - a great 70s spooky folk horror with elements of terrifying public safety film to it. Doesn't quite stick the landing but if you're a sucker for atmosphere, as I am, it's a doozy.
Also watched From Out Of The Past with Robert Mitchum. I'm a sucker for a noir and this shot right up into my top three, along with Double Indemnity and The Big Heat. That rarest of things, a perfect film.
Watched Dune II also. I really liked the first one, and this is just as beautiful and atmospheric, but the pacing felt oddly rushed. No spoilers, but it felt like the training montage could've been a whole film to itself, and everything that happens afterward being moved to a third film, or even a third and fourth film. Lord knows the rest of Dune sucks so we may as well make a whole bunch of great films based on the first book!

I’ve heard good things about Anora, has anyone seen it?

Yep, great movie. Fantastic acting from the lead, and a story with real heart to it. You can see why it won the Palme d'Or.
Oh, and loads of graphic sex scenes, so don't see it with your mum.

It's an interesting film (particularly its ambiguity) with some strong scenes and acting but don't think it lives up to the hype...can feel a bit meandering at times

I thought it was fantastic, very funny as well

I'm really excited to see it (hopefully this weekend). I love everything else Sean Baker has done.

Megalopolis was alright. No idea how it took so long to come together, there's not much substance to it but enjoyable enough.
Didn't get it at all. Satire? It looked beautiful, costumes are great. Some hammy acting, but maybe it was supposed to all be a bit camp, a bit Carry On.

Yeah, I got the impression that it was intentionally over stylised and a bit camp as you said. I'm not going to rush to see it again but it was better than my incredibly low expectations.

Is Black Box Diaries showing in the UK cinemas? It's a Japanese documentary from a young journalist in her struggle for justice (being raped by a man who has friends in high places) in a land where the social position of women is still the same as in early bond films and also a society that has a hard time breaking with 'tradition'. It's worth a watch but bring out the tissues.

I'm giving Conclave 6 out of 10. Looks great, sounds great, some really good acting, but I feel like the revelations in the story really didn't have the impact they're probably supposed to.

Rebel Ridge aka Rambo Reacher hit the mindless Wednesday night fodder perfectly. Good amount of tension throughout and action that wasn't too far fetched.
Plus points for hero riding a gravel bike, minus points for lack of sharpened stake traps in the woods.

I loved Rebel Ridge. I think Jeremy Saulnier can portray the chaotic nature of violence like no-one else - it's interesting to see him do the same with very controlled violence. Don Johnson is great as the despicable cop too.

Don Johnson is great
Would recommend Cold in July if you've not seen it

I watched the recent "The Crow"
If you can disregard the James O'Barr source material (brilliant comic, go read it) and the 90s film (fairly accurate adaptation of the comic, also brilliant) it is still shite.
