You talking about the T line?

Tried. My first foray into waxing (proper wax not emulsion/fluid wax) was with my Brompton chain, because why not? Only took a few slightly wet commutes to wash off. Was using Molten Speed Wax, which is meant to be one of the best (for performance at least lol).
I think unless you're already in a good routine with waxing your other chains, it might not be worth it. I'm currently using Silca's wet lube (Synergetic), more because it's what I have at hand, and does help preserve chain life.

Anyone converted their Brompton to a belt drive?
-
• #16281
Is that why you're selling ALL THE THINGS?
-
• #16282
Durability, as you said the components wear out quickly and belt drive is seems like a sensible option.
I use my Brompton everyday to commute to work and as everyone stated the chain, rear cogs and sometimes jocket wheels needs all to replaced purely due to the fact the positioning of how close it is to the ground, don't need to mention the lovely UK weather which also does not help...

I considered .. Kinetics can do this but you will have limited choice on gearing .. single or alfine/rohloff
belt drive makes complete sense as a dad

• #16284
I have gates drive and Alfine 11 on our bullitt for that reason excactly - it is amazing to ride through the winter slop and not have to destroy chains and cogs

• #16285
waxing is another option, i need to do that on my brompton
-
• #16286
For me, waxing only works for bikes that aren’t ridden in the wet. I only use it on my gravel bike as that’s only ridden at weekends. If it’s wet at all then the chain will need to be swapped out afterwards, or at least dried off until it can be swapped.
I do prefer waxing, it makes for a cleaner bike and swapping chains is easy, but it just can’t withstand getting seriously wet. Even more so on a Brompton due to how low the chain is.

I use Pro Link Gold, it's solvent heavy and dries up quickly.

Mental note to add belt drive to the dream Brompton custom build

There's no reason you couldn't put a belt pulley on a three speed internal (Sturmey/Sachs/BSR/BWR) hub as they are available in all fitments.
Putting a splitter into a rear triangle shouldn't be too much hassle, getting a splitter might be. Ceeway doesn't carry loads of options. If Paragon do them then Peter can get you one in his next order or getting one custom made would be an option.
Probably going to need a custom tensioner/snubber or whatever they call them when it's for a belt and you might need to compromise on gearing to get a combination that'll get to the right tension as you unfold.

Vincent (Eerder Metaal) has done at least a couple, this one uses one of his rear triangles though.

Custom triangle is probably going to be the way to go if you do it.

Selling a used M bar in silver (over in classifieds) - couple of scratches but sound - £18(posted)

It's no longer available in the UK, as the previous distributor has stopped importing it.

Darn it, Boeshield T-9 then.

OK Brompton hive mind. Had a wheel come off my rack yesterday. Put it back on, but the stock ones have never rolled that well.
What are current favourites for replacements? I'm getting the component upgrade itch, and this might just scratch it.
Also, I bought one of these to fit a Koma light to my P line, but it doesn't fit the block bit: https://tokyobike.co.uk/products/rindow-light-304-sus-stay
Anyone know where I can get one that does fit? Seems like it needs to be slightly slimmer.
Happy to sell that one on if it works for you.

Rack wheels, I have had excellent service from the Joseph Kousac ones, available on SJS in a whole range of colours: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brompton-spares-accessories/joseph-kuosac-front-m6-easy-wheel-set-for-bromptons-light-version-silver/
Slightly larger than the stock wheels so roll better and easier to get over bumps/kerbs etc and also roll on bearings so really smooth

Lovely. Not in stock until December, so could be a stocking filler. Ta.
-
• #16299
Ah! Have a browse around they have a range of options and I’m sure there were some in stock. The SON wheels look pretty similar too.

Yeah will have a look around. I'm after the black ones, so am just being awkward.
imagine designing this and bringing it to market and charging top dollar for it!
