Ta. Mason have a 166mm axle for other bikes. I wonder if it would work or be too long? There's not been any issues with it, just "feels" like it could do with more thread engagement based on what my Resolution feels like.

Try and count the number of turns that are engaged that should give you a good idea of what thread length is actually engaged. The axle on the picture says 15mm thread length, so 10 turns of a 1.5mm thread pitch until it bottoms out. The 166mm axle has 17mm of thread length, so effectively the last thread sits 4mm further out than on the 160mm. If you have less than 7 turns to fully tighten the current axle, you should be able to use the 166mm if it makes you feel better. (Assuming the dropout isn't closed and the axle won't poke out too far. )

New alloy crux released for £2.5k but neglected to add mudguard mounts or a multi page PDF

It's not a closed 'end cap' so a longer axle would be fine. Does make me wonder if they specced the wrong one though or if I'm just used to the Resolution requiring quite a few turns. I need to have another play with it.

The carbon crux was a bit close to the bone, but they’ve finally fully ripped off the Arkose.

By that logic, everything Pinnacle has ever made is a rip-off of the much older Specialized company.

Yeah except no mudguard mounts so it goes straight in the bin. This is the UK. Arkose got that part right.

Can't compute, frameset the same price as a Secan and to my suprise the geo doesn't look that different..

Any recommendations for starting points for gravel saddle for light female rider of average hips/seat bones?

In general for threads you want an engagement length as a multiple of the bolt diameter to give appropriate engagement while also not wasting material or making the joint so strong you can strip the threads.
Steel would be starting at 1x.
For Alu 2x.When I work to these rules of thumb at work the mechanical engineers tend to be pretty happy as a starting point. (For the thread pitches I work to)

The barnacle, of course!

£1.5k for an aluminum cyclocross frame.
What did the aluminum crux used to cost?
Answer was £562.50 RRP for the CruX E5 Disc frameset

It's not just an alu cx frame though.
People will pay a premium because it's the "lightest alu gravel frame ever made"."at 1,399 grams for a 56 cm frame, that weight means most traditional carbon gravel bikes are only about 1 pound lighter (~400 grams) than this."
Crux E5 Disc at £562.50 RRP should cost £740 on UK inflation but what about US inflation and the whole bikemarketbeingfuckedflation?

"Our 54cm test frame weighs 3.43lb/1,559g with its seat collar and derailleur hanger"

That's either bad spec by Mason, or your hub OLN is wider than it should be. As we're talking bike engineering, you will never reach the ideals that Grumpy Git is talking about but 5mm engagement on a 12mm axle is not a lot.
Try a wolfaxle a extra 7 mm !!!!!
