I've done the dynamo maybe 6 or 7 times but this year I was thinking of driving up the day before then getting the train back to london from darsham which will cost about ten quid, then me and my 2 companions can jump in my jallopy and drive home.
My only lingering concern is leaving my car in what will be at that point a remote and isolated carpark for a night. Perhaps ive been living in london too long worrying about it.

There is no overnight parking at the beach or heath, to stop the camper crowd. However I don’t know anyone that has got a ticket there.

Think you can park at Darsham overnight which is what I might do. Otherwise just park on a near-ish residential street with no restrictions.
Alternatively might just ride home but the idea of doing that on a Brompton and then doing childcare makes me a bit hesitant.

If you're riding a Brompton there is a coach organised just for Bromptons returning to London Stratford, DM me if you want a spot

Joining the thread as planning on coming along for the first time this year! I’m in Norfolk so planning on taking the train down to London with the bike then can effectively cycle home
-

I’m from round there, the car will be fine

I'm sure you know but just in case... You'll need to get a bike reservation for the train to London (I'm going from Norwich) and there are only 6 spaces on each train these days.

Oh I’ve only ever just jumped on haha. Thanks for letting me know, I’ve actually already booked my ticket, can you do this in hindsight or do you have to do it when you book the ticket?
-

You can add it to your ticket in person (i.e. in the ticket office) if there are spaces on the train. Not sure if it can be done online though.
They are quite strict with bikes around the Dynamo time so I wouldn't risk jumping on! -

I had booked to go down the night before, I.e Friday but realised I have things to do Saturday morning so have rebooked it to go down on Saturday afternoon. Really appreciate the comment though as there was only 1 time left that suited my needs and had bike space!
Thanks for pointing that out

Phew! Glad you got a place. There was only one free when I booked mine. The new trains are nice but the lack of cycle spaces is a PITA.
-
• #15
Think that last space is the one I got!
Maybe see you there

Am tempted to be on the beach with a BBQ for you guys.
Looking to see what I can arrange with a gas stove and a BBQ. Also ways not poison anyone and cater for vegans and veggies.

So I've still never ridden this*. Something always comes up. All in the diary then I've been offered a job 12-6pm (this happens every year). What time do people leave London fields? I'm in Walthamstow, so could easily be on Lea Bridge Rd for 7pm. That doable you think?
*I think I'm still cursed after bailing on @hippy in 2007 and staying in with a new girlfriend instead.

Do it.

You joining me?

In Bristol for a gig next day.

What time do people leave London fields?
Any time between probably 6ish and 9ish. Depends on your anticipated speed and whether you're aiming to be on the beach for sunrise etc (I've not achieved that in three efforts).

Ahh calm then. Thanks.

Soggy bottoms can always happen.
Return Coach tickets for this years Dynamo have just gone on sale from the Southwark Cyclists website. Fancy a trip to the seaside this year?
